Guest guest
I have a pt who is 16mos s/p RYGB. PMD and surgeon believe she is experiencing sx of hypoglycemia. She eats 2-3 meals per day - also uses Atkins bars and sugar free cookies etc. Otherwise she consumes primarily lean proteins, veggies, whole grains. Besides the usual recs for hypoglycemia - does anyone have anything to share for this particular population? I'm thinking she would benefit from 5-6 small meals with appropriate distribution of pro/cho/fat. Also, what is your experience of sx being improved with diet changes after surgery? Surgery isn't the magic pill that many people think it is. Make sure they know that weight gain post surgery is possible if dietaryand lifestyle changes aren't maintained. I'd also mention the typicalcomplications....blood clots, wound infections (more prominent in opencases), death, etc.Just my two cents!
