Guest guest
Greetings, I am so enjoying this site and all the information that everyone shares. Just got my Vita Mix and am learning how to use it.I just got home from Costco where there was a Blentec demonstration, I told the demonstrator that I had just gotten a Vita Mix and how much I love it. He agreed both machines are great! He asked me if I knew that you can put an avocado seed in the machine. And that the seed was full of nutrients. I didn't know that!!! Anyone heard of that? Guest guest
Hell Caryl,You found a great Blendtec demonstrator - usually they trash the Vitamix - good for him! There are some people who do blend avocado pits in their high speed blenders - I've done it at shows for people who ask to see it. The end result is so bitter as to be almost impossible to drink. Here is a Vitamix video showing it:http://www.vitamix.com/household/infocenter/3horsepower.aspAnd here is a Google Search about the benefits (hint - soluble fiber):http://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=benefits+of+avocado+pits & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8I don't care how healthy they are - they are SO BITTER that I will pass :-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<))>< On Jul 10, 2012, at 5:36 PM, Goodman wrote: Greetings, I am so enjoying this site and all the information that everyone shares. Guest guest
Has anyone tried adding the crushed avocado seed powder to the avocado pulp when making guacamole? What other uses can be done with the crushed avocado seed?Ed in SF, CAOn Tue, Jul 10, 2012 at 2:43 PM, Lea Ann Savage <lsavage@...> wrote: Hell Caryl,You found a great Blendtec demonstrator - usually they trash the Vitamix - good for him! There are some people who do blend avocado pits in their high speed blenders - I've done it at shows for people who ask to see it. Guest guest
Hello Ed,I've tasted Avocado seed / pit (both powdered and blended in water) and it is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE - the most bitter taste you can imagine - like eating a banana skin. I know that a lot of people thing that Avocado pit is good for you (and I can tolerate a LOT of bitterness) but I simply cannot stomach Avocado pit and wouldn't put it in guacamole because it would ruin it for me.If I were convinced that I needed to consume Avocado pit (say I KNEW it would cure a cancer that I have) I would find some way to chug it down and clean my mouth out afterwards (to remove the bitter taste) rather than try to add it to food that I want to enjoy. That is just my experience. I would like to know how others who eat Avocado pit manage to do it! :-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<))>< On Jul 16, 2012, at 5:01 PM, wrote: Has anyone tried adding the crushed avocado seed powder to the avocado pulp when making guacamole?
