Vitamix 3600 Questions

I was gifted a well used Vitamix 3600. It has the metal container with a spigot.

The spigot is all gunked up and pretty disgusting. I'm not even sure how to

clean it at this point. I don't want the spigot, period. Is there anything I can

do to remove the spigot and plug the hole? Also, it didn't come with a tamper or

recipe booklet/instruction booklet. Any ideas for those things? I don't want to

break it during my first time turning it on.

Also, a friend has the wet and dry containers for the 5200 that she doesn't

want. Can I put those containers on the base for the 3600?

Hello Kate,I know the answer to part of this - the 5200 containers do not fit on the 3600 base.Vitamix used to sell a plug for the 3600 to replace (eliminate) the spigot, but I don't know if they still do - they quit supporting that model (from what I've heard).The sale on reconditioned Vitamix machines for $329 on a 3-payment plan is a pretty good deal - something to think about :-) If you decide to do this - contact me off list and I'll give you the ordering details so you get Free Shipping and a Free set of Spatulas with your order :-)

the spigot can be removed to clean.  I upgraded so don't have mine

anymore to look at.

Also when cleaning.  Fill with warm water with a few drops of dish

soap as you normally would to clean.

Get a glass and turn machine on and open spigot so water runs out of

it into glass.  That should help clean it if you don't want to take

it apart.

Having read all the replies to this, I thought I would kick in here. I

own a old 3600 which still runs (but needs parts for bottom of

container). I had the problem frequently of gunked up spout before I

learned to clean it. It will unscrew and has a nut on the inside and

also the top, handle part unscrews as well so you can put a pipe cleaner

in to unclog and clean it. Do it carefully, a old spout might crack due

to plastic aging. You can get a stainless steel washer and bolt and nut

at a hardware store (make sure they are stainless steel, as you don't

want rust in your drinks. Use washers, might even find a flexible rubber

washer, and put through the hole where the spout was and plug it up. The

tamper was a wood affair with a cross bar to keep it from going down and

hitting blades. I would imagine you could make one by cutting a dowel

and putting a cross piece on it by measuring carefully, or look on ebay

and one might turn up for not too much. You likely won't break it, they

are pretty sturdy machines.

Hello Kate,I would call Vitamix Customer Service and ask if they can refer you to anyone who repairs the 3600 machines. Vitamix no longer carries parts or repairs them, but perhaps they can tell you something. I'm sorry - I wish that I was more help.

There is a rubber gasket thing on the underside of the carafe that appears to be holding the assembly in place. We can't get that gasket off (and don't really know if we should). Does anyone have any ideas? The blade part of the carafe is wobbly and rocks back and forth.
