Guest guest
I see them once for 30min 1-2 weeks before surgery. Sometimes for insurance reasons I seem some 2x. I don't believe that 30 mins 1-2weeks before surgery is sufficient, but that's how it works here Janelle Heusinger, RD.,LD. Guest guest
I see patients for 45 minutes about 2 weeks before surgery. We also strongly recommend they attend a support group meeting prior to surgery. Guest guest
, I see pts for 60 minutes for initial evall, then classes (anywhere from 4-10 hours, depending on some established criteria involving their knowledge, hx of wt loss attempts, and current diet practices) in which I am teaching post-op concepts, with a focus on both lifestyle changes after surgery and longer term issues important for wt maintenance after loss. Then all pts attend an additional class within the last two weeks before their surgery in which I review, in detail, all the early post op diet/fluid/protein guidelines.
