Hi ,

I'm definitely new at this...I see the name of your attachment, but

unable to access it from the website. I've changed my preferences

so I will receive emails from the group in my personal account.

Anyway, I'm dying to see your form. Would you mind sending again.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks.

Felicia.

question aimed at those who are in private practice. One of my

duties is to write a " letter " to the insurance companies stating

whether or not a patient meets the medically necessary criteria for

weight loss surgery. So, I would like to know if anyone out there

has the same duty and could share with me their format for the

evaluation and/or the report that goes to the insurance company.

Seeing that my learning curve is high with this field, I have tried

many formats, but seem to make it too complicated. Any help would

be most appreciated.

Hi ,

Welcome to the group. I'm also on the SCID group trying to glean a little

more info on immunodeficiencies. Conner still doesn't have a diagnosis, but

we hope we're getting closer!

How has SCIG been going? We did it once a week for 7 months, but took a

break over the summer. The break didn't go well and we had to get an IVIG

earlier this month. Conner has decided he wants to keep doing IVIG for the

time being, but I'm guessing he'll eventually want to go back to SCIG.

Please let us know if you have any questions or problems with the subq,

there are a lot of kids here using it.

I'm just curious, is there any chance that will eventually gain

b-cell function too? I know that the transplant often doesn't produce good

results for b-cells, but I just wondered if it was a possibility that

function would eventually come.

Take care,

Mom to Conner (11, Asperger's, mild CP, partial seizures, asthma, GERD,

immunodeficiency-SCIG, and now adrenal insufficiency),

Hayden (11, PDD-NOS, IBS and moderate hearing loss/aided),

Evan (11, asthma and mild hearing loss/unaided),

and Kelsey - (9 going on 19!)

Hi Tammy,

My grandparents on my father's side are from ton, ME. I haven't been there

since I was wee...nice memories, though. Welcome to the list. I've been here 2

1/2 years. A really good bunch of people.

I'm Alana, SMA 2, age 39. I live in Berkeley, CA. My partner of 5 years,

Chuck, has just moved in and we're settling in nicely. I work out of my home as

a consultant, and am enjoying life.

Cheers!

Hi all,

I'm amazed and in awe of all the married members in here. I'm 54 with SMA,

have been in a wheelchair since I'm 11 and have never married or had kids. I

always found relationships extremely difficult to maintain, nothing ever

lasted, and I'm still searching for that special someone. My God, it has been

tiring and stressful. Is there anyone out there in my situation, finding

relationships so difficult? I feel alone reading these posts!

For storing your fermented kt you can store it in plastic bottles with the

triangle on the bottem with either

the # 1 or # 2 . I drink a lot of seltzer water and save all my bottles for

storage . Glass only for brewing.

Right?

My question is... what about plastic? I want to bottle this for easy

storage and carring..... i hear glass bottles break if not filled to

the top...and still they might break.....

can you use plastic lids?... i know metal tops are out.

what about regular plastic drinking bottles like you get your water

in at the store with plastic lids.... are those ok to use?

Please let me know... i might have to order some bottles somewhere

and i want to be ready for when the tea is done and ready to

drink....thank you for your time and hope to make lots of new friends

here.

Hello Dave Welcome to the group. I'm Derik in Salinas California.

I'm 48 and have SMA " adult onset " . I was diagnosed about 5 years ago. And same

difficulties defining it. I'm still walking " but carefully " and can go about

a mile now on level ground with a few breaks. No pain in legs unless I fall or

cramp up a couple of tiny muscles that work along side some big ones. Arm's

have no pain either but I cannot lift them well at certain angles. Like out to

the side and up or into my pocket where my wallet is kept. But that might be

another disease called frugalism or tight wadaholism. I need well secured rails

to go down stairs or I'm not going. I've dis located a few with applied

torque just to step down. And I need the use of my arms to get up out of a

chair.

I'm not complaining cause I think I got it easier than most. I did'nt get

noticable symptoms till I was 15 but not enough to be diagnosed or aware of what

I

was dealing with. Today my focus is losing some weight. I'm 5' 9 " and weigh

210 lbs and had a heart attack about 3 years ago. Feel free to e mail me if any

questions or just want to talk. Derik

Try the Files Section. There is great information. You can also look at the old messages on the search option. Its a fun and exciting field, I think you will be happy with the change.

Cat,

I can definitly understand why you would feel frusterated with

yourself and feel like giving up, but DON'T :o) This year I have

gained a lot of weight that I lost last year on a low carb diet. I

lost my mom in february and I just let myself do whatever I wanted for

awhile, didn't work out, slept alot. I was depressed but I also let

myself make excuses for not taking care of myself. I discovered BFL

just a little while ago (this is my 5th week) If you want to we could

be BFL buddies and email each other. I find that reading posts and

talking to my friends that are doing this with me really helps. I have

about 60 more pounds to lose myself.

Lizzy :o)

Hi Cat, and welcome to the group. I'm so proud of your previous

success, and I'm sorry to hear about the car accident. It's ok to feel

overwhelmed, but girlfriend, you did it once, you can do it again.

You'd be surprised how many people have never been able to lose a

third of what you lost. I'm proud of you for taking the first step to

towards getting back on the wagon. You can do it. I believe in you. :)

Lynne - my son likes being cuddled - but it's usually on HIS terms!

new member

Hi, I,m Lynn.I have a 7 year old son who is autistic. He is practically non verbal, but is finally starting to make attempts at speech, his favorite word is train, which is a new word this week. He is having more frequent temper outbursts recently but generally he is quite manageable most of the time. He is really loveable and cuddly which i hear is quite unusual for autistic children, and he absolutely loves computers. We moved to the Usa from Britain last year and he has adapted quite well. I look forward to hearing from any other parents who share he same ups and downs of life with our children. I think we are more aware of our childrens successes given that they aren't easily achieved.

How about just taking one day at a time. Plan one day - plan your

food and plan when/how you will workout. Then plan the next day and

the next...start off easy, maybe walking outside 20 min day for the

first week, 30min a day the 2nd week, etc... You CAN do it, you did

it before. Don't let the accident be an excuse. We're all here to

help you along...

Welcome Lynn,

My son has Asperger's and ADHD, he is now almost 12 and he has always

been very affectionate, he still is. I actually had a problem with him

hugging people too much, lol. The kids at school were a little freaked by

it. This finally stopped at around 4th grade. My son is also very into

computers. He calls himself a " computer wiz " He picks up on how to work

anything electronic almost as soon as he sees it!

You will enjoy this group.

Welcome to Natural Perfumery, Debbie!

I am still stuck in the cookbook phase for making desserts,

nevertheless everybody enjoys very much and are embarassingly

impressed with my fancy Italian cakes when I make them. After all, not

everyone will spend 3-5 hours on a cake, right?

I am sure you will learn a lot here, there are very experienced and

passionate natural perfumers here, and I am sure soon enough you will

make your own " cookbook " !

Thanks for the welcome Ayala! I'm very excited about expanding my knowledge. I

Hi jaima,

I too am starting my challenge on Monday and wondered if you need a support

partner.. This will be my 3rd challange.. I weigh in at 153 @ 5'4 " .. I know the

program and know exactly what I need to do but I have been far less on track

then in previous challenges.. In the last year I have really let myself and my

eating get out of control.. So... I will be posting my goals on Sunday night and

also want to try to set myself an accountabilty post for the day..

Well, welcome and hope to hear back from you soon.. I don;t know about the back

injury, but I hope someone else will be able to answer your questions..

take care,

Amy

Hello everyone. I am new to this group and just wanted to take a

minute to introduce myself. My name is Jaima I always was in fairly

good shape until a few years ago. Finally have found that I am

hypothyroid and am in the process of getting that under control. I

have packed on quite a few pounds over about the past year and a

half, so, it's time to get serious... I am 5' 4.5 " and currently

weigh around 160. My target weight is 125. That is where I was

always most comfortable. I've got several inches to lose

everywhere!! I've got a lot of work to do...just needed to get

motivated I guess!!

I know that I need to 'make' the time to exercise. I have it, I know

I do. Actually I only work everyday until 3:00 pm...but then it

seems like everything else takes over and I don't make time for

myself until it's time to go to sleep. I have two children, a

husband, three dogs, two cats, and a house to take care of, lol, I

quit making time for myself a long time ago...). I do try to at

least get out and walk the dogs (gives me a reason to get a little

exercise), but I know that's not going to be enough. I have decided

that today is the first day, and I am ready to get on track!!!

I have been reading through past posts and the files like crazy this

morning and have become even more motivated hearing everyone's

stories!! So, thanks for letting me be a part of this group...I need

all the support I can get!!!

I do have a question...not sure if this is the right place to ask or

not, but I've got another situation. I have a herniated disc in my

lumbar spine, this has been ongoing for about two months now. I have

been through aqua therapy and physical therapy...no relief there.

Medicated I am okay, but I can't live on Vicodin forever, lol. Has

anyone here had to deal with this type of injury? If so, did you

choose surgery, time, meds, etc??? I am supposed to go for a

surgical consult on Monday, but am scared...scared that I will still

have back pain, but will this hinder my getting back in shape?

If this isn't a topic for this board, then I apologize. Just wanted

to ask.

Hi Amy!

A support partner would be great! Since I have not done this program

before it would be great to have that added help and support (maybe

you could help me get on the right track with this program...)

I plan to get all of my measurements today, plan goals, take some

before photos and all...

My biggest obstacle will be getting my family to eat right also.

It's really difficult when they can eat all the 'junk' and aren't

really too interested in making any changes...but I'm working on it.

If you would like to e-mail me, that would be great. Or, my IM

is jaimabrown.

Thanks and talk to you soon!
