I was reading how many of you make coconut oil, so I bought a ton of flaked

unsweetened coconut. I want to try it but I haven't a clue what you do with it

after you make it. Can you give me some ideas? Do you cook with it? O make salad

dressing or just use it in desserts?

Coconut Oil has a shelf-life of up to 2 years:http://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=coconut+oil+shelf+life & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8Coconut Butter will separate just like peanut butter. The oil in the coconut butter has the long shelf life, the coconut meat, however - I don't know about its shelf life.I keep coconut oil and butter in the fridge. The oil I have in gallon containers and melt what will fit into a salad oil container to keep melted on the counter. The coconut butter I make into coconut bits and keep in the fridge because I like the texture better solid.

Got it! So I'm getting both! Great. It in the wet container too I think.

Blend it up and you get coconut butter - coconut butter can be best compared to

peanut butter, When first made, they have similar textures. When left out on

the counter, the oil separates, and rises to the top.
