Guest guest
Recently I noticed black mold on my baseboard in the bathroom. I live in Military housing and they sent a repairman he was able to push right on through the wall cause it was mushy. I had a major water leak in some pipes that connect the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink. It had a huge hole in it and everytime you used the water it drained out of the hole into the wall. He also said he it had been leaking for a very long time probably 2 years or so and that he could tell it had been fixed before. When I first moved into my house 2 1/2 years ago they had to put jacks under the house to hold up the hallway floor in front of the bathroom cause it was sagging so bad from I am guessing water damage. Ever since I have moved in this house I have had chronic sinus infections, losing my sense of smell for months at a time and alwyas having swollen nasal passages and lots of sinus headaches. My husband has an awful cough and has some breathing problems that he is seeing a pulmonary dr on the 23rd. Now I am getting concerned that maybe its all from the mold. I have an appt with an allergist to get testing done since my dr thinks i may be allergic to mold. When the came to fix the pipe they did not fix any of the water damage or do anything they replaced the base board and sheetrock but left all that wet icky mess in the walls. The wood in the walls was black and slimy and smelled awful. The bathroom floor they removed the top layer and put the new layer on top of the black nasty wet wood. I had them come out last friday cause the mold smell is so bad and they put lime under my house. I also bought a mold test today at lowes and did that, have a to wait a few days to get results on that. I am just worried and don't know what I should do. I have been reading stuff and am getting scared thinking I should move due to being always sick with sinus problems and I also have a three year old whose bedroom is beside the bathroom. My husband and I have fatigue big time but not sure if thats mold related or what. I just don't know if I should fight the housing office to try to get another house , this house is over 50 years old. Anyhow, I took pics of inside the wall when they were fixing the pipe, when they went outside I popped in the bathroom and snapped some pics. If anyone can tell me if they see mold or can identify anything or give me advice I would appreciate it. I am so worried about all this. Thanks in advance.
