Guest guest
Tioga motel to be condemned http://www.willistonherald.com/articles/2006/01/16/news/news1.txt By The Williston Herald Monday, January 16, 2006 3:57 PM EST The Tioga City Commission has given the nod for the condemnation of Tioga's Viking Motel building to proceed, reported the Tioga Tribune Wednesday. Although its previous owner, Peck, had requested the process be delayed until the frost goes out, the city board has deemed the building a health hazard due to mold and vermin problems, stated news reports. According to the Tribune, the Tioga City Commission has been working for some time to have the structure either refurbished or razed. Peck wrote his request to postpone the condemnation process in early January. However, it has been delayed numerous times before, so Peck or someone else would have the opportunity to improve the building or tear it down. Peck has asked that he be given enough time to save the knotty pine wood in the building. Commissioners reportedly believe enough time has been given to salvage the wood, and agreed to move ahead with the condemnation.
