Guest guest
My husband is a builder. Where are you building & I'll ask him. I think I trust him, but when his bid for the home came in it was REALLY high! About $165.00 per square foot! This includes nice stuff like granite, wood floors, core bond insulation, spraying the wood with a mold prevention, a dryer machine to bring the moisture content down in the wood to 7% before the sheet rock goes on etc.... But now I don't know what to do? How do I know I am not getting taken. He knows we had problems with another house and how hard it was for us... Just seems like everyone concerning mold just wants your $$$$$ money? I am looking for advise... anyone? Sheila Asleson Minnesota
Guest guest
Well, I am trying to finish my house, I don't have granite countertops, or hardwood floors, and I am coming in at 150 a square- try as I might to buy everything myself cheep. All my money went into anti-mold measures- radiant heat- mini split airconditioning- house sprayed before close in, dens-aumor plus sheet rock- extra 3 courses on foundation- mini-basement crawl space- rat slab on 3 " of gravel on to of poly barrier. No- formaldehide insulation and no paper where possible. 1 floor- no overhead pipes- extra flashing around windows. Made allot of mistakes- wish I could do it all over- but contracting here, in a traditionally cheap area- is up to $200 a square. Make sure your contract states no visible mold on wood. -- In , Sheila Asleson <sheilaasleson@y...> wrote: > > > We are going to be building a new home this spring. Guest guest
Can you tell me what is the best thing to do for a crawl space under 2 rooms. It's my mom's house and I would feel better having something done and covering the dirt. There is no moisture problem and it is completely dry. Thanks! Guest guest
and Sheila, I have about a 2,000 sq foot home but I know that only includes measuring the liveable areas and doesn't include the basement for example. Would I pay for 2,000 sq ft or would basement be priced out also. It is same size as other two floors, so sq ft would go up by 50% and that doesn't count the attic which is unfinished, just rafters. --- In , " carondeen " <kdeanstudios@v...> wrote: > > Well, I am trying to finish my house, I don't have granite > countertops, or hardwood floors, and I am coming in at 150 a square- > try as I might to
Guest guest
Did you check out the spot for reactivity before construction even began? If it's a " Your neighbors spore plume " situation, building the perfect mold free house doesn't make the slightest bit of difference. It's a very unhappy fact. -
