Guest guest
This will be a great loss. Penny http://www.hhinst.com/Closing.html For immediate release The Healthy House Institute to be Closing Soon and Lynn Bower, owners of The Healthy House Institute, a well- respected publisher of books and videos, have announced that they will shut down their operation as soon as their inventory of books is depleted. According to , " We have been involved with healthy houses in one form or another for over 20 years, and it is now time to move our lives in a different direction. " The Institute will close its doors, and shut down its website (www.hhinst.com), when the current inventory of books and videos is depleted, which should be sometime in during the next several months. Over the years, the Bower's have built several healthy houses, written dozens of articles, authored 5 books, and produced 6 videos. 's The Healthy House, which has gone through 4 editions, is considered a classic in the field. At 704 pages, Lynn's Creating a Healthy Household has been cited repeatedly as a veritable encyclopedia for living a healthy lifestyle. " We feel honored that our books have helped so many people over the years. " says , " but it is now time for others to continue the work we began. " In late 2003, the couple formed a new company-Studio Indiana (www.studioindiana.com)--to showcase their future endeavors. Studio Indiana's first two major projects are books of 's black- and-white photography. The first, Lingering Spirit, is a collection of images of " fading, forlorn, and forgotten places, " and the second, Guardians of the Soul, is filled with photographs of magnificent and poignant cemetery statuary. " There is definitely still a demand for our Healthy House books, " according to Lynn, " but we simply no longer have the drive-or the time-to do all the research necessary to update them and keep them in print. So, for the last year or so, we have been making discrete inquiries to see if we could locate an individual or organization willing to purchase The Healthy House Institute and the rights to update our materials. While there has certainly been some interest, no one has come forward to make a commitment. " adds, " The Healthy House Institute has been a labor of love for us-a very personal business-so we wouldn't sell it to just anyone. We would want it to go to someone who has the right background, drive, passion, and financial resources. So far, we haven't found a person-- or organization--to take over the reigns, so we have decided to simply close our doors. " Having written over a million words, and with 60,000 books and videos in print, the Bower's are leaving behind quite a legacy. Even though new editions of their materials won't be forthcoming, their existing publications still contain a phenomenal amount of valuable information, and can often be found in libraries across the country. As The Healthy House Institute winds down, calls for healthy house information will be forwarded to American PIE (Public Information on the Environment). American PIE (www.americanpie.org) is a non-profit organization that has a hot line (800-320-2743) to answer questions about environmental and air-quality issues.
