Guest guest
Dear ACA Governmental Affairs or whomever else can assist: As the Chiropractic Assoc of Oregon's lobbyist I will be attending Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski's "Task Force on Veterans Services" this coming Tuesday night. The Governor formed the task force to compile, review and evaluate current veteran policies, procedures and programs. The task force is charged with developing recommendations for improvements to ensure that Oregon veterans have access to the services they need. To that end colleagues, myself included are having trouble with our veteran-patients getting referrals from their PCP at the veterans hospital in Portland, Oregon. As you are aware congress passed legislation that supposedly provides veterans with a chiropractic benefit but only on referral and there be the rub. The medical doctors at the VA hospital in Portland are simply refusing to give our veterans referrals for our services. I respectfully ask for help regarding the following: A summary statement as per the conclusion of the 5-year 10 army base demonstration project comparing chiropractic to medical care of common musculoskeletal conditions/injuries. For example did this study not reveal chiropractic care was superior in clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction?? I also need the exact US House Resolution/Bill number and year the two pieces of legislation were passed by Congress allowing for first chiropractic services for all active duty personal and subsequently for all veterans. Where is the current House Resolution that would require a chiropractic physician in every VA facility across the country? Is it in the Senate? Has it passed the Senate? Will the President sign it? Know your all very busy and this is very late notice and as such I very much appreciate any help you can give, To the continued good fight!
