The parents owned a restaurant and when I used to go in and visit, his father said he would take at least, if not more, a Tbls. of olive oil every day (sort of like a medicinal the way he spoke of it). He said one advantage was it kept his hair from turning grey... true or not, he didn't have one grey hair on his head the last time I saw him in his 70's. Anyhow, we use alot of olive oil, none of which has ever been stored in the refrig. We use extra virgin, first cold pressed, straight from Italy. Its darker and heavier but I know its better for you. I will say it hasn't stopped me from getting grey hairs... In the last few years I've changed to a plastic bottle which I don't really agree with for health reasons... but after the (full) glass bottle broke on the tile floor and the oil followed the grout lines for what seemed like miles... plastic was the way to go. Guest guest Report post Posted December 18, 2011 Quick update for all of you! We got our application in at SLC last week & got a call yesterday saying that they had received it & would be in touch early next week to set up an appointment for the casting- most likely in March. Well... We got a call today saying that they had a cancellation and we could have the spot if we could get there tomorrow!! We are currently on vacation with my family & this threw us for quite a loop, but eventually we decided that an appointment ASAP was exactly what we'd been praying for so we probably should take it! All that to say- we leave tomorrow for SLC & Olive will be in her first cast Monday morning. Think about us & pray for us- this is exciting, but we didn't get to plan as much as we'd have liked. Any tips on living with the cast would be great- bathing, dressing, car seats, etc. For those of you who have been to SLC, any helpful hints for navigating it would be nice too. Thanks again to all of you & especially to for starting this website. Jeff & Parents to Olive, 15 months, 1st casting on Monday! Guest guest Report post Posted December 18, 2011 Yeah Yeah Yeah!! I thought that might happen for you! We are getting a cast Thurs in SLC & they called us yesterday to verify when we were flying in & what not to see if they could bump up our cast ...we couldn't & I thought they might call you guys! Yeah! There are tons of tips on cast life on here in past threads... just a quick few that worked for us... - Went down 1 sz in diapers & switched to Huggies slip ons for day & Huggies over nites for naps/bed with plastic underwear over top. -Boo Boo pack! just one of those kid friendly ice packs for Levi's head..the 1st week was rough with falls since balance was off, but " thomas " helped the tears go away faster since he was special & only came out when he got hurt. -elastic waist pants that can be pulled up over the cast. (so pants aren't pulling the diaper down) & size up in shirts. Levi went from sz 24 mos to 3T/4T. - Fun duck tape to cover the cast. The cast was rough & the sides were scratching his arms & snagging his blanket so we covered the whole thing...works slick. We went with the tie die tape that matched the cast buddy SLC gave Levi. (a teddy with a cast on too...Levi & budde match Best of luck to your family! You will Love the team there!!! Angels on Earth if you ask me! We just knew once we meet them that everything was going to be ok again for our family. We get there Wed afternoon if you guys are still around. (but I'm guessing you will be safety flying home for a great holiday!) Amber mommy to Levi 31* down to 16/17* in cast 1 > Quick update for all of you!
