I have the Beauty Detox, too, but I haven't read it yet. Maybe I'll pick it up

after this one to compare!

I have read both of Kris Carr's books and even subscribed to her web-site. But as a busy single mother I found it difficult to commit to this lifestyle. I love her book's and envy her drive but I need something more workable in my life. Most average people with alot of responsibility and little money I don't think can follow these costly plans. I first learned of the Vitamix from her. Her boyfriend now husband got her one as a gift to help her in her cancer fight. She has a lot of helpful advice and the book is hard to put down. Easy to read - hard to follow. I would love to know of a diet plan so-to speak that is more realistic and easier to follow for busy mom's.

Just my thoughts.

I'm half way through the Beauty Detox by Snyder, she talks a lot about Acidic/Alkaline foods, and Food Combinations and order we should eat food. I'm trying to practice that, but I'm not perfect or many days in.

I'll have to check out Crazy, Sexy Diet. I like to understand different approaches and see what might work best.

I wonder how similar their approaches are.

Hi all--- I'm reading the book, 'Crazy, Sexy Diet' by Kris Carr right now and wondered if any of you have read it? I've read bits and pieces about the acid/alkaline balance before this, etc, but this book explains it in a way that I can understand! Highly recommend the book.Anyone here following her "diet" (lifestyle)?

Haven't read the book, but want to say that in my research I've come to learn that IF you are a Fast Oxidizer meat is actually alkalizing to your body. It took me FOREVER to let go of (and I clung to it dearly) the idea that meat is always alkalizing.IF a person is a Slow Oxidizer, meat could be very acidifying (slow oxidizers can do ok with the white meats, while fast oxidizers do much better with the dark meats). So there is truth to all diet advice out there - but not for EVERYONE!!!I fully support the raw food / vegan lifestyle (I DEARLY WISH I COULD BE ONE) for those who thrive on it.I fully support the paleo "caveman" diet for those who thrive on it.I fully support the GAPS / Nourishing Traditions / Body Ecology Diet for those who thrive on it.My diet is a combination of all three of the above:I eat a LOT of raw food. (Rene's book is my favorite for ideas/recipes - I go heavy on the "Saloups and Blended Salads")I eat fermented veggies. (GAPS / Nourishing Traditions / Body Ecology Diets)I eat grass-fed beef and organic dark meats. (from the Paelo and/or GAPS/NT/BE)I used to eat raw dairy until I pegged it as the source of a persistent rash - if I ever do the full GAPS diet, I expect to heal that allergy and be able to consume raw dairy again in the future.I keep the protein volume down, and bump up the healthy fats (pulled that from the Rosedale Diet)I eat a pound of dark green leafy veggies per day (pulled that from Dr. Fuhrman's Diet)I eat a lot of coconut butter (from, "Eat Fat, Lose Fat")So that was a long way of saying, "I bet there is a lot of really good information in the "Crazy, Sexy Diet", and I hope it inspires you to make a change that boosts your health! I just don't think that any one "diet" works for ALL people.… and that is from someone who is certifiably Crazy, so take the advice with a grain of celery ;-)

Marilyn, I wholly agree! I'm a busy single mom, going to college, too, and I

don't have a lot of extra money. I would love to follow her recommendations but

I suspect it would be very difficult (except when I have my garden growing!). I

do think there is a niche there for trying to lead more of this style of healthy

life, but as family on a limited budget! I notice that most of the books like

this are written by women without kids to raise... ;-)
