Guest guest
I am not familiar with this book, and went online to read the plot, review, etc. I would say that this is typical high school reading material. Not having seen it, I can't comment on specific text, but it doesn't seem far out of line with what I've seen come home. I had more trouble in 7th or 8th grade with the book whose main character was a victim of some asian sex-slave/trade! That material was over the top for the age, I thought, but didn't know was reading it until she had finished and said " mom, this book was so sad. " In thinking about high school reading lists (which would be great if we got them at the beginning of the year, so we could look over/read them if we wanted), I also tried to wrack my memory to books I had read in high school that were under the category of " classics " or " good literature " and yet many dealt with what I think could also be considered inappropriate subject materials (sex, rape, incest, murder, cannibalism, etc.) but yet these are tolerated because they are classics. I still get the creeps thinking about Lord of the Flies! Maybe they think a gritty, modern book will interest more kids? What is a Read 180 book? , mom to (15) (13 DS) and Sammy (11) On 2/9/2011 6:30 AM, blaise_25053 wrote: > > Hi All, > Just wanting to put this out there and get some input.
