Guest guest
Therese, when I went to a conference in DC, I used my Hostelling International membership to get cheap lodgings. While everyone else at the con was complaining about high hotel prices, I was paying $11 a night, and stayed for 2 weeks and spent my money on sightseeing, not on lodging. All I need is a bed, a shower, and a locker to store my stuff and I'm happy. Hostelling is not for everyone, b/c it's not luxury by any means, and you sleep in a room with a bunch of other people, and there are communal bathrooms. But on the flip side, you meet a lot of cool people from all over the world, and the $$ you'd spend on lodging can go toward other things. You can become an American Youth Hostel member for about $25, regardless of age. Visit www.hiayh.org for more info. ~Joe
Guest guest
Thanks Joe, I might do that if I can find cheap air fare first. I am 6 months pregnant though, so I'm not positve about the hostel. Maybe there are other people looking to split the cost of hotels. ~Joe
