Guest guest
Well, we had another successful potluck and food swap. I saw some familiar faces and lots of new faces. I'll let someone else describe the wares. Just wanted to say thanks again to for arranging it and hosting us at the beautiful Interpretive Center along the Mississippi River. I will keep it in mind for a family hike. And OOPS!, I seem to have come home with someone's spoon and fork-a matching pair. If someone would like to claim them, I will return them to you or hold onto them until the next swap. Kathy
Guest guest
You got that right, Kathy, It was for us too! We came home with NT almond cookies, NT bread, , home-made ketchup, NT tomato sauce, cultured butter, gherkin pickles, cabbage and kombuchu (now I gotta figure out how to use it). We tasted a delish calzone, both kinds of kvass, humus, spice cake, squash pie, apple crisp, buffalo sausage, cheeses, raw milk (with the shortbread!), and probably more I've forgotten. Every single dish was great. Jodie and Jim, the naturalists stopped in, sampled our wares and raved about them. They both took home bison and shortbread! Our newest converts. ha ha. I sold and bartered a lot of bison and all the seasalt I brought. Rebekah brought her amazing shortbread and hopes everyone will order baker's dozens for holiday gifting and gnoshing. She grinds our organic whole wheat flour, uses the grass-fed butter and bakes them with love. Perhaps best of all, we fell in love with the Upper Mississippi River Park and Interpretive Center. I am planning to book all of our WAPF Traditional Nutrition lectures for the 2004-2005 series at the center. We got a great tour of the non-toxic, recycled building materials-made, earth-and-people-friendly and beautiful building led by (also a naturalist at the center). I've got a stack of maps and historical literature to digest. After the meeting Rebekah and I walked the 87 acres of park and river and saw all sorts of wildlife and beauty. Driving home, we followed the BIKEWAY from the Center's parking lot all the way back to Uptown! This park is one of the most well-kept and AMAZING secrets of our urban existance . Therese, Kathy, , Jim and many others put a lot of work into this event and it is thanks to them that it was A BIG SUCCESS. This inspired me and gave me so many good ideas I had to rush home and write them all down. Thanks, all! Will
