Guest guest
Kathy and everyone, I went to ACRES also. The presentations/lectures I attended during the 3 main conference days were; " Food as medicine " - Jerry Brunetti " Breakfast, lunch, & dinner " - Sally Fallon " Panel Discussion - Raw milk " - Brunetti, Dexter, Fallon, Winter " The real objective of food production " - Walters " Industrialization & the food supply " - Jerry Brunetti " Wild fermentation " - Sandor Katz " The science behind raw milk " - Lee Dexter " Healthy foods & healthy minds " - Stitt " Detoxification & cleansing " - Will Winter " Beginning herbal medicine " - Wood " Cancer, the immune system & healing " - Jerry Brunetti I attended the conference as a consumer, not a farmer, so my opinion is from that angle. I think everyone probably would of loved most of the lectures I attended. (depending on what kind of interests you have) I thought that all of them were very good to amazing!! The only exception I would have would be Stitts presentation. I think that he is a very good hearted person and did an amazing thing with the school in Appleton. It was a MAJOR accomplishment for the general public and our lousy foods in the schools. But he was a little out of his league at this conference. Compared to Jerry Brunetti and Will Winter, he's a beginner in nutrition and health. Personally, I would recommend buying the audio tapes for all of Jerry Brunetti's, Will Winter's and maybe Sally's lectures. The books by Sandor Katz and Wood would be more helpful since you could reference them anytime. Kathy, or anyone else, if you have any more specific questions about the conference let me know. By the way, I am 37 weeks (very) pregnant and still enjoyed going to the conference for 3 days! Therese
Guest guest
Wow Therese! Am I ever envious of who you saw and heard! And I have been thinking of asking you if that baby is almost " done " ! What were the top 5 things you learned or ideas you will put to use? But I've had enough of being big and pregnant! Most of the new things I learned were having to do with detox & cleansing and such. I can't do any of that while pregnant and not much while nursing either. Mostly, I just was inspired to do things I already knew but am lazy about. New Years resolutions: 1. Really try to cut out (or at least really cut down) sugar!!!! (Even while eating such wonderful new foods since NT, I still have a bad addiction to sugar) 2. Try to plan menus each week. 3. Try to eat in season a little more. 4. Not eat out as much. 5. Cook more. 6. Yoga & time for ME. Therese
