Guest guest
If I may interject...I used to buy pasteurized eggs to make such things as mayo and hollandaise sauce, etc. As soon as I found a source of organic, free- range eggs (we call them " good " eggs) we eat them raw with abandon. My whole family has probably eaten 100's of them without any problem. I wouldn't advise eating " store-bought " eggs raw. Kathy > I have a question about that fat smoothie recipe that was mentioned > recently. It calls for raw eggs. Why? Aren't raw eggs & salmonella > a concern? Or is this yet another food " myth-conception " ? > ~Joe
Guest guest
Joe, Kathy's right. Avoid grocery store, fecal-factory, torture-chamber eggs like the plague, even cooked, I try to avoid them except when traveling and forced to eat at roadside grub places. We have also eaten 100's of the pastured, organic, free-range eggs without any worries about salmonella, e.coli, listeria, or other pathogens. They are as safe as any raw food. (people tend to forget that veggies can sometimes be contaminated with bad organisms). As Dr Tom Cowen from the WAPF says he does limit his patients consumption of eggs, " no more than 18 a day, well, OK, no more than 24 a day, but that's my final limit " . This great source of CLA, omega 3 FA, lethicin, protein, Vitamin A and D, enzymes and so much else, is the best bargain in organic eating! Delicious too. Cooking destroys many of the medicinal qualities (but not all). We have house guests so our blender was SMOKIN' this morning. Everyone loves the fat smoothies. I was at ECOPOLITAN yesterday and picked up my batch of TROPICAL TRADITIONS coconut oil. We had run out of the good GARDEN OF EATING brand and had to get a couple of jars of SPECTRA from Whole Foods. One house guest noticed the cheaper Spectra was like " Axle Grease " more like something to lubricate machines with. Very little flavor. We picked the TT as being the best tasting and best textured oil. Ecopolitan was at the Living Green Expo and had a great presence. I saw people eating the yummie sandwiches all over the expo. Yesterday we had the BEET-CARROT-KALE juice. Wow! I STILL feel great!!
