I purchased one this summer and downloaded the Proloque2Go app.  This was

probably one of the best purchases I have made for my 18 year old with DS.  She

is very hard to understand, but has lots to talk about.  I was able to

customized the " basics screen " with information and pictures that she sould

share with fellow campers and counselors.  I uploaded pictures of the family and

her activities (such as the prom).  Prologue2Go has many other screens that are

preloaded.  For example, there is an option to choose drinks, when you go into

that screen, there are many types of drinks (OJ, apple juice, milk) as well as

name brand drinks (pepsi, diet pepsi, mountain dew).  the interface is vary easy

to operate so was able to let the counselors know what she needed.  She is

also using it at school, and beleive it or not, one of the teachers is using the

notebook part of the Prologue2Go for school to home communciation!

This is so " cool " for her to carry, and she loves it.  We also have all her

music and some videos on it.  She carries it everywhere with her.  The only

drawback is the life of the battery.  We had to make an emergency stop at

Walmart this summer while on vacation to purchase a car charger for it!

My husband and I were talking about this yesterday and he mentioned that all

the ipods are notorious for their short battery life, but it sounds like it

may be worth the inconvenience.

Does " short battery life " mean it needs to be recharged often or that the

battery needs to be replaced/repurchased often?

Shirley

Josiah has only had his a couple months, and we haven't noticed any problems

with it yet.

I think it's recharged, rather than replaced. We have a total of 4

different varieties of ipods in this house, including 2 Generation2

Nanos (3 years old?) that have still not needed a new battery. Or,

maybe we just got lucky :-) My itouch is only about 8 months old, and

the battery life is good for me, but I use it primarily to listen to

music and basic aps like the calendar, so I'm not sure if I'm just a

low-battery-use user. I love mine, although I dont really use it for

anything fancy... I'm reading all these aps thinking " I really should

look around at this stuff! "

We both have iphones, there are ipods, and such and if they are charged at

night... no one has a problem.  Of course, that would depend on if you are

playing music or gaming ALL of the time.  But since we are all busy, we don't

have our plugged into our ears constantly.

Even if we want to play music at home, we do use a little speaker system that

charges as it is playing.  And in the car, we just plug it in there, too.  I

suppose if one of us were playing on battery time a LONG TIME during the day, it

would need to be recharged more frequently.  Just not sure.

I love my iPhone!  :)  So does Alden.  LOL.  Little stinker has figured out how

to find things, take pictures, etc.
