It does take the blood pressure down and she always takes hers prior to taking the clonodine. She takes it as some of the medication she takes makes her blood pressure go up and also when she gets very anxious. It will help with the elevated blood pressure and anxious stuff. just a note....don't ever take Klonipin. It did terrible things to my Mom not to mention weaning off it is awful. Guest guest Posted July 9, 2009 Report Share Posted July 9, 2009 My son takes clonodine for sleep, he also takes klonopin for his anxiety - I take it too and I have had no side effects from it or going off of it (I only take it for very stressful situations and when I go to class) one drug that is extremely hard to get off of is Effexor XR if a doctor ever wants to prescrib you that ask for something else - I had the most horrible side effects from the meds and trying to get off of them also!! it sucked!! I decided one day I didn't want to take it anymore and I learned my lesson. What did it do to your mom? Since I will be taking it for a while still, I am always looking for long term side effects, but haven't really been able to find any. It helped with those things but only when she fell asleep from it daily for 2-3 hrs. She was her usual wild self and after about 3 hrs. fell SOUND asleep for 2-3 hours and when she woke up she was her usual wild self, too. So we did not see the effects we were looking for with it, either.
