Jeff has a good experience with the one he recommended.

You need a BP specialist.

Send us your renin and aldo results and what is normal for that lab.

Also need to know how much K is in urine (24 hr for Na and K.

Read my evolution article and take to all your Drs.

How low has K been?

Assume someone asked you if you eat licorice?

If not you have no yet seen a BP or hormone specialist.

So, Dr. Grim, I think you've inadvertently answered a question that I asked

that you haven't responded to yet. And that question was, what tests should

I get next, besides aldo, renin and comp. chem. panel. I guess I need to

ask for the urine K and Na. Licorice lowers HBP, right?

No licorice increases BP and lowers K.

You should just have another 24 hr urine for Na and K and blood renin

and aldo.

HOwever is BP and K are normal and you are feeling OK I would not do

further testing now.

I'm confused. So, you're saying do not do further testing now, however, I

should have a 24 hr. urine for Na and K? I was just planning to have the

comp chem panel and aldo and renin the next time, which will be sometime in

April. I've never had the 24 hr. test before for K and Na. I did have ones

last spring for adrenal hormones, and all were within normal range.

Acutally you cannot tell if they are in the normal range, at least

renin and aldo unless you also know the 24 hr urine Na and K done at

the same time.

The reason I recommended the 24 hr urine at this stage is to quatitate

how much Na and K you are eating to see if you are meeting the DASH

goals: Na <1500 mg, K>4000 mg.

At least is you want to control an elevated BP and prob prevent HTN.

At least it does is you are a chimpanzee.
