Guest guest
Yesterday and early last night was spooky. Dead calm and not a bird in the sky. The little tree frogs that live in our hedge made a bee-line for the ravine behind our complex. I helped our condo manager secure the property and made sure all the loose stuff on our patios were brought into the house. This morning it is pouring down rain and the winds are picking up. Edouard barely qualifies as a tropical storm, according to NOAA. Her winds are not expected to exceed 45 knots or about 51 mph. She does have a clearly-defined eye which is expected to make landfall over The Island around noon. We've had a couple of brownouts already and the temperature has dropped almost 30 degrees. Niece Rebeccca called about 30 minutes ago. Arlen's, the supermarket at which she is a manager, will be opened today for a while in case someone needs something. The University of Texas Medical Branch is closed except for essential personnel. All my med students' cars are parked in their carports. Sunshine Center, where goes to school, is closed. Bus service is shut down. I hardly slept last night. Kept waking up every hour or so to check NOAA. We have plenty of food and water plus our windup flashlights and radios. All is well. How are you guys? granny -- Not for ourselves but for the whole world we were born
