Guest guest
Good for you! I don't think you will be sorry. He will do SO much better. When we started homeschooling Josiah (not until age 16), he did better all around. I don't know why, but his all-around behavior improved. Challenger league play improved noticeably with better interaction with the other players, etc. The only thing that I have missed is going to the health club for a workout. We did add him on the plan so we could use it for PE, but when I'm there I have to keep an eye on him and can't focus on my workout. I have to make sure he doesn't put too much weight on the machines and try to use it, etc. He graduated in May with CHEF (Christian Home Educators Fellowship). I think I will post a link to his " speech " at the graduation. CHEF people were good to work with us to include him as much as possible. Each student was allowed 20 seconds to speak at the graduation. It was pre-taped and they displayed pictures of the graduates during their speeches. I had him read about 5 sentences about himself. School for that day was mostly practicing reading the 5 cards I made up. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa_laDQLsgk He is the fifth person to speak...1 minute and 20 seconds into the video. I posted it to other lists I was on last May, but was not active in this group at the time. Hope you enjoy it if you didn't already see it. Shirley Re: dismissing " our " kids early This is exactly WHY I am homeschooling Logan this year. They would not let me see his sped classroom at the school where they were placing him. I could go see it after school hours, but not while the teacher and students were in session. I had not even MET his teachers and they felt I should send him on the bus with a stranger and spend the day with strangers who didn't even KNOW his behaviors or his needs. Yet, in the same district, less than a mile away, in the school that my other children go to, I am allowed to go in and out whenever I want to. Puts up red flags for me. I would not allow my child to be in a room that I am not allowed in. . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
