Guest guest
I made this tonight. It about made my 23 yr old gag. Lol but as picky as I am with the veggie drink, mainly tomato, this was pretty mild. Could use a bit of sea salt. My husband liked it as well. I will probably do it again. I added some water so it wasn't so thick.....gelled consistency. k -- Reduce high blood pressure smoothie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTddj0tdI68 & feature=related ------------------------------------

Guest guest
I watched the video again and was very surprised that celery wasn't included. I know that celery is great for lowering BP. I would also probaby agree that most of us need some sort of seasoning to make it " palitable " . However, most seasonings such as salt are not BP friendly. Before my Vitamix, as a cook, I would use garlic powder or onion powder instead of salt on most things. Soup and popcorn were about the only foods that absolutely need salt (for my tastebuds). Everyone is going to experiment and everyone's own health issues are going to determine how much salt/seasoning you can do without in your own food adventure. The one thing I have learned is that eating less chemicals and less processed foods can only be a step in the right direction. > > Maybe it would be better with a little Tabasco and vodka. Guest guest
I thought this might be interesting to people with high blood pressure: http://www.watercure2.org/bolen_hbp.htmI've been doing the "water cure" for months now and would NEVER go back to drinking less than 1/2 of my body weight in ounces per day. If I miss a jar (I drink 4, 3.5 cup mason jars of water a day). I can feel it in my mouth the next morning when I wake up. I can easily get in 3 mason jars a day - it's that 4th one that can be challenging sometimes… Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< On Apr 7, 2011, at 6:12 AM, flnancy1958 wrote: I watched the video again and was very surprised that celery wasn't included. Guest guest
This really gets me!!!!! I have been to this site myself, occasionally for years. I have suggested it to people.....for years. This last year my BP went up. I am trying to up my water to that 1/2 point, but for some reason, I don't Do it. Why why why? I know it would be good. I am not on meds. My homeopath has Me on an herbal product that helps. I am sure if this weight leaves me, that would help. But that is mighty slow. Thanks for the reminder. I just NEED to do it! k -- Reduce high blood pressure smoothie> > > > <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTddj0tdI68 & feature=related>> & feature=related> > > > > > > > ------------------------------------> > > >
Guest guest
No, what's challenging is getting up 4 times a night when the 4th jar is after 10 p.m.. LOLOL Sorry but could not help myself. I still have to take a combo high BP pill which has diuretic in it and husband is fond of saying, I can take Velda anywhere, as long as I stop at every bathroom along the way. hahah Velda On 4/7/2011 7:06 AM, Lea Ann Savage wrote: I thought this might be interesting to people with high blood pressure: http://www.watercure2.org/bolen_hbp.htm I've been doing the "water cure" for months now and would NEVER go back to drinking less than 1/2 of my body weight in ounces per day. Guest guest
I actually have low blood pressure. So low that when I am under anesthetic the medical staff get all worried because it goes even lower. When I wake up from anesthetic I am pale and freezing and they keep checking my bp often. I always tell them not to worry it is normally low. Good thing though because not only do I love chocolate, jelly bellies, fudge (you get the idea) but I also like salt. Guest guest
shows how little I know, I did not know there were so many different types. I don't shop at too many different places so I only buy what is at costco, LOL. and here at costco I have only seen the sea salt that I buy (in the grinder and already ground) and then your refined table salt .. which I do not buy anymore because I do like the sea salt better and had assumed it was better for you, btw I went with strawberry ice cream instead of the chocolate bar, so proud of myself. I used the recipe that was on here for vanilla ice cream but used 1/2 frozen strawberries and 1/2 ice, yummy but now I am freezing. Going to cuddle up in a blanket, read a bit and go to bed. past midnight here. I am a night hawk. Tomorrow I might try the same recipe with cocoa instead of strawberries, yummy. Can't wait to give it to the kids when they are here again. thank you whoever posted that? I am sorry I cannot remember but I scribbled it on a piece of paper at the time. I always made it with soy milk or skim milk but the 1/2 & 1/2 cream really does make a difference. More calories I know but less than the chocolate bar I am sure. Guest guest
On one hand, I agree NACL is NACL, but I think there is a possibility that the minerals in the various salts may be beneficial, over the just plain, "purified" NACL. The other point that always amuses me (just short of ticking me off a bit, so I laugh instead), is saying, "We put sea salt it in so it's lower in sodium/salt. Yeah the crystals are larger so less fits in a spoonful. But salt is salt and all food producers (makers of soup, and almost all packaged foods) put way too much salt in food. And then I visit my sister in law and father in law and watch them salt their food before even tasting it, esp in restaurants! Velda On 4/9/2011 8:41 PM, wrote: Sorry, I don't know. Guest guest
I'm gonna go with really doubting that there's enough of anything else in NaCl to make one "okay" and one not. I'm pretty sure I can sometimes taste differences among various types (e.g., "gray salt" and fleur de sel taste different to me) but I doubt that what's (possibly) accounting for those difference could make one type appreciably more healthful than another. FWIW, my go-to is Maldon; that's what's in my salt box. I like it in particular because it crumbles very easily so you can either leave it in its cute pyramidal crystals or make it fine with your fingers. I have fun with other types and sometimes a recipe calls specifically for kosher but Maldon's my favorite and they have it smoked, too! It's nice in lots of things...but again, it has to be in small amounts for me. And with the exception of added iodine, one NaCl is no different than another to the body. Re: Re: Reduce high blood pressure smoothie Surprisingly, "salt is salt" is not completely true. Guest guest
So he's hawking his own material in addition to likely being on some salt-hawker's payroll (read: undoubtedly Celtic Sea Salt). Norwalk won't even sell Norman 's books anymore because they, as manufacturers of the juicer that carries his name (and is based on his own prototype), have decided that doing so is a possible conflict of interest and they don't want fingers pointed at them. The books are still in print and available but you can no longer buy them from Norwalk and the publishing arm that produces them is kept separate. I think this is extreme but it certainly demonstrates a responsible attitude on the part of Norwalk
