Psst .. , hang tough!

Please don't tell me about another gadget, you already have me seriously contemplating buying that Norwalk.

And has me looking around for a soda stream (which I had never heard of before). I thought I was a gadget diva, but I see I have some catching up to do.

Oh, the soda stream is the BOMB! I used to use a plain soda siphon, but the sodastream has it nailed! Nothing like homemade soda,k where you KNOW what is in it. TRUE ginger ale made with fresh ginger and lime is amazing. Makes awesome popsicles too!http://www.sodastreamusa.com/store.aspx?gclid=CNLtsMWU8KcCFQbCKgodrWxbZQ--- On Sun, 3/27/11, berlinsmith <berlinsmith@...> wrote:From: berlinsmith <berlinsmith@...>Subject: Re: OT 's obstinence Date: Sunday, March 27, 2011, 9:42 PM

Thanks for the heads up. You won't believe the argument going on inside my head, I think the me that's saying buy it is winning. LOL. Currently Norwalk has a two-week shipping backorder.

Listen, if you buy a Norwalk, do NOT, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, buy a used one from a guy on eBay/Craig's List/et al., who goes by the handle "developtrust" and whose name is Palowniak (I forgot his wife's name but I know she's East Asian). This individual is a PREDATOR of the worst sort. DON'T DO IT. He hondles people who are selling used Norwalks claiming that he needs them "for a friend with cancer"; he then turns around and lists them for a lot more money with his "own" extended warranty (the factory warranty holds only for the original owner). A con artist of the highest order.

Oh, yes--they've really taken off in a big way and in spite of the lousy economy, too. They're just a little factory and everything is tooled and hand-assembled right there. In fact, it's so hard for them to keep up with orders for new machines that they haven't offered refurbs in a very long time, which is a shame. What I suggest you do is call Carol toll-free and talk to her to see if the machine is right for you (tell her in New York suggested it--we're quite friendly). She's the current president; her dad owned the company (he bought it from Norman ) and she literally grew up in it; she won't steer you wrong or try to sell you a machine if she doesn't think you'd benefit from it. Should you decide to get one, it's a good idea to order three extra grids: one each of "the juicing grid," #2, and #3, as well as a bag each of the pressing bags and cloths (personally, I prefer the cloths for almost everything). Also, you need to look on eBay and find out who's selling Swiss Zeno "Star peelers" for the best price--these are ESSENTIAL if you're going to juice because you need to peel carrots, beets, and parsnips (I sent Carol and her brother two of these as gifts last year and Carol LOVES hers, so much that she's toying with the idea of buying a bunch of them and throwing them into the box of every juicer they ship).

It's a PHENOMENAL machine--I look at it and my Vita-Mix, both American-made, and think "good job!"
