Guest guest Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Congratulations to all - gave me a very warm fuzzy feeling (though with the heat of today could have done without the warm) How wonderful although though her husband couldn't physically be there, he was there with her when it mattered. Give our love Jan and Trent from DownUnder is an uncle (and I am a granny!) Just wanted to share our good news. Hayley was born yesterday, weighing 7 pounds and 5 ounces. I got to be in the OR room during the c-section. WOW, it was a wonderful experience to say the least. My sister flew down and made it in time - without her, I could not have gone into the OR. 's husband was able to call in from Iraq and be present during Hayley's birth via speaker phone. I'm really impressed wtih this naval hospital. has been welcomed there - even in the birthing room. Had not needed a c- section, he could have watched Hayley being born. Bran's doctor has a niece with Down syndrome. At one point, got bored and wanted attention. He laid on the floor and demostrated how to push...lol!! I'll post a picture of holding Hayley when I get home. My sister has been at the hospital since she arrived - she has not left 's side - which is a good thing because developed some type of infection and is not feeling well. I would love to be with her myself, but my sister would have a hard time with (not knowing his little nuances like how he gets up at 4:00). I just can't get over the staff at this hospital. Everyone has been so good to my daughter and granddaughter. It's hard to imagine that many of them have been to war or are getting ready to go. I'm sure being in the birthing floor is a welcome change from being in a makeshift ER in the desert. Click reply to all for messages to go to the list. Guest guest Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Congratulations to everyone especially at this wonderful time of the year! I was an uncle three times before I was even born! I came along kind of late. My brothers and sisters are a lot older than me and my parents were in their 40s when I was born, the youngest of their six children by 14 years. Guest guest Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Congratulations to the new Grandma here ! And the new made Uncle.. Glad to hear he was so welcomed! We were just informed that our daughter is pregnant. She is 18 yrs. It's a girl ( supposedly :-) ) and she is due in Mid Feb. This will make my youngest ( 15 months ds) an Aunt at 17 -18 months. Others are ages 9, 6, 4, & 3. We don't have actual " plans " on having another at the moment. Not to much Infor for you.. but we use an only natural method of Birth Spacing. So its likely and we 'expect' to have more children. God willing we are blessed again in a year or two or three.. LOL.. then it will also make that unborn baby an Aunt or Uncle before he or she is born! HA my kids will love it. They are now calling the youngest two.. baby aunts.. LOL EGADS.. that means I am a Granny. Hmm.. To crisis or not to crisis.. ( just kidding) . I get a kick out of calling my DH 'Gramps' now. Steph " Truth is not determined by a majority vote. Guest guest Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 LOl that sounds like my sister-in-law's situation. She has a 26 year old daughter with 2 children. Then later in life, she(SIL) adopted 3. (uncle) is younger than , it was funny because they went to preschool together....now the 3rd child they adopted(about 2 months ago) just turned 1-the nephew is 5 and the niece is 4. Guest guest Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Our eight kids range in age from 29 to 3. We have grandchildren who are 8 7,5, and 10 months and another on the way. The older kids LOVE calling my 3 yr old " Uncle Chip " . A Child fills a place in your heart you never knew was empty! Quote
Guest guest Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Our Ruthie, now 2, with DS, was born when I was 45 and my husband was 48. She is the youngest of 6, her oldest brother is 18 years older than she is. We don't have that big gap between the last two, though, our kids are now 19 (20 next month), 17 (18 next month), 14, 12, 6 and 2. Sue ___________ I was an uncle three times before I was even born! Guest guest Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 I have 6 children, 27, 24, 22, 6, 4, & 2. My youngest (of the first three) was 16 when I got pregnant with number four. I have a daughter (27 now), that was pregnant with her twins when I was pregnant with my 6yr old. My 6 yr old was born 2 months to the day before the twins were born ( & they already had a big sister too). I also had 2 other children after that, Shayli (4 DS) and Sophie (2)...they were born aunties! From all the other posts...it's not that uncommon to have a big gap between some of our kids! -Lori- Re: is an uncle (and I am a granny!) Guest guest Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 , My milk came in very late with my first baby. He wasn't nursing strongly enough to stimulate my milk supply. From what I was told babies usually catch on as they get a bit stronger. Even with the help of several lactation specialists my son never did get it so I pumped for six months. If is in pain and has an infection those are stressors on her body that may also be interfering. If they gave her an electric (hosp. grade) pump then it doesn't matter if she gets much the first few days. The point is to keep it up to stimulate the body to produce milk. On the subject of , I know it must be frustrating for you not to be able to be with more. Could you start looking for an agency around there that may be able to provide someone to do respite with ? Even if not for this trip then for future trips. I know that wasn't something I could do for but just might work for someone else. Good luck and Congratulations, Karyn - Mom to (17) ds/autism, 6, r 2 1/2, , 2 months Quote
