Guest guest
Hey Tony, I made chicken liver pate in my Vitamix today. I fixed it for the purine-rich meat and not to taste good - I'm not much of a cook - I just boiled the livers with a little bit of water + sea salt + a pat of butter then whizzed it all up in the VM. According to the Metabolic Typing diet I am on, I am supposed to eat meats high in purines. Never ate a sardine (also high in purines) until yesterday. Whizzed them up in the VM with salt and celery and some mayo for a tuna salad-like dish. Not bad! But straight out of the can? YUCK! So far this diet has done wonders for my energy and my blood sugar fluctuations. I am sticking to the foods on the personalized eating plan that I got at the end of the test. An interesting discovery... I have PH test strips and they always used to turn up acidic - now for the first time, I've had quite a few alkaline readings. Just goes to show that meat doesn't make EVERYONE acidic, and supports the idea Metabolic Typing promotes that a food that is beneficial to one metabolic type is harmful to another and vice versa! Guest guest
Why not just add them to a fruit/green smoothie? Use the same rules when starting with greens. Use a small portion and gradually increase it. Tony New Sig Line I didn't fight my way up the food chain to become a vegetarian. Tony will like this... Guest guest
I never liked liver but maybe next time they are on sale I'll try this and then add to a smoothie. On the strips. Have you looked at the acid/alkaline diet? You can also add drops to water to make more alkaline. Tony Re: Tony will like this... More than happy to inspire! Guest guest
Well, Joyce, the veggies and fruits on my current food plan list are VERY limited. The good thing is that supposedly after you've been on the food plan for a while your body chemistry is supposed to shift more towards the center and you get a new food plan :-) Spinach and green apples are on my food list so I've been consuming a lot of spinach/apple smoothies :-) Also berries are on there so berries and spinach is my alternate for now. Can't wait to get on a food list that has more choices.Cauliflower is on my list, but not broccoli (drat) so I've been making delicious cauliflower "mashed potatoes".Asparagus is on my list so I've been making lots of cream of asparagus soup (loved that before I ever started this eating plan). Guest guest
Hey Bonnie - I'm up with insomnia :-) Went to bed at 8:30 and now I'm up. Drank some Valerian tea and took some GABA (always makes me sleepy) and I'll be back asleep soon...I say listen to your body and moderation in all things. I'm currently learning about how certain foods can affect different metabolic types and it really explains a lot to me about why some of the really healthy foods didn't always make me feel good. If you are curious about your metabolic type - take this test. https://www.metabolictypingonline.com/Intro.aspxI certainly wouldn't stress about trying to get food "supplements" into your diet every day. Just as your body craves or when one bag of something (like hemp seeds) runs out, replace it with something different (like Chia). I'm taking Turmeric every day because anti-infamatory is good :-) I may back off and give my body breaks from it from time to time in the future.I'm confident that you will work out what makes you feel the best and a routine that you can live with :-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< On Mar 10, 2011, at 1:43 AM, Bonnie Engler wrote: hi lea ann, you are up late also. or what time is it where you are? 12:40 here in st. louis. i have some questions if you have the time to answer. i am trying to take or eat everything they say is good for you. chia seeds, hemp seeds, loaded green smoothies, raw eggs, flax seed crackers, tumeric, fruits and veggies, etc. am i supposed to take all of this every day? or how often do you recommend? thanks, bonnie Tony will like this...> > > > > > Hey Tony,> > I made chicken liver pate in my Vitamix today.> > I fixed it for the purine-rich meat and not to taste good - I'm not much of> a cook - I just boiled the livers with a little bit of water + sea salt + a> pat of butter then whizzed it all up in the VM.> > According to the Metabolic Typing diet I am on, I am supposed to eat meats> high in purines. Guest guest
Lea Ann, since you can have cauliflower, I recommend a super simple cauliflower "cream" soup. I steam a small head of cauliflower, then throw it in the VM with very little water (or milk, rice milk, etc) and a pinch of sea salt. Buzz it up. By using little liquid, the soup is thick and creamy just from the cauli. You can add herbs or cheese, but I find it velvety and lovely all on its own. Lea Ann, It sounds like you are continuing to do very well with your new food "regime." I still haven't taken the test yet, but do suspect that I will turn out to be the same type you are. Can you still drink green smoothies? Joyce > > LeeAnn, thanks for sharing this. Guest guest
That is kind of what I'm doing except leaving out any liquid to make it like "mashed potatoes". I'll make some today with cream and since I can have cheese a cube of sharp cheddar added and I know it will be SUPER cheesy-creamy-delicious! Guest guest
Funny that this simple cauliflower recipe, which I have eaten daily for years, is what showed me the real difference in my old VM and the new 5200. While the oldie did a decent job of pureeing it, the new one adds a velvety texture that I didn't know was possible. I would be thrilled with the new one for that alone! Guest guest
Haven't done cauliflower in my new one but here's one way to explain the texture difrerence. The old machine is like grits. Guest guest
, have you shared your cauliflower soup recipe? I missed if you did. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Berry Sent: Thursday, March 10, 2011 8:45 AM Subject: Re: Re: Tony will like this... My mother was a huge skeptic about anything " healthy " , and thought the only way to make " cream " soup was with loads of butter, cheese, and of course cream. She was quite literally speechless with the cauliflower soup, which has been a family favorite for years. She couldn't believe that I could make one in minutes that tastes thicker, richer, and creamier than my grandmother's " old fashioned " , and very British recipe full of fat. Guest guest
I saw a video clip of a woman just running a banana or two through the VM and called it banana ice cream, or pudding. I can't remember, but it looked soooo creamy. I don't recall any other ingredients. I love bananas. k -- Tony will like this...> > > > > > Hey Tony,> > I made chicken liver pate in my Vitamix today.> > I fixed it for the purine-rich meat and not to taste good - I'm not much of> a cook - I just boiled the livers with a little bit of water + sea salt + a> pat of butter then whizzed it all up in the VM.> > According to the Metabolic Typing diet I am on, I am supposed to eat meats> high in purines.
