That's pretty funny.. I did the same thing last night!  I've only had my VM a few weeks.. and I can't say I'm a huge PB fan.. but I just wanted to try it.  LIke you, not as creamy as say... a JIF from the grocer.. but then, mine was just peanuts.. not artificial anything added.  Pretty cool, huh?

It is all an experiment, but the latest thing I have found is to add one can or

package of salty and one package of sweet. Last batch I even threw in a handful

of my white chocolate chip morsels. I originally put in all the nuts and then

ran the machine but last batch ran one can first and got it smooth and then

added in second can and worked much better.

Use roasted nuts. My favorite was a package of cashews and a package of

almonds. Walgreens had creme brulee almonds which were a personal favorite but

think they are seasonal.

Aldis had cinnamon almonds but were out last time I went.

and some for me too. It ALWAYS comes out creamy smooth just as store bought

peanut butter. If yours is not that creamy, you could stop the Vitamix, let it

rest and blend again. Or you could add a little oil. If you are making a nut

butter with almonds, add a teaspoon of almond oil to get the Vitamix blending

the nut butter smoother. If you are only grinding up almonds, they are a very

hard nut and it would be helpful to add a softer nut like pecans, walnuts or

cashews to grind with them. I also find that if I roast the nuts they grind up

much easier and are much smoother than using raw nuts.

year. None of them were good. They were too thick, hard to spread and did not

grind up all the way even with adding lots of oil. If anyone else has been able

to make pistachio butter, let us know how you did it. And shelling the nuts

took a lot of extra time too.

favorite blend now is almonds, pecans, walnuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds

and a few flax seeds (I do not roast the flax seeds) and a little cinnamon.

Once you do you will never go back to store bought........but don't stop at

peanut butter, try all different roasted nuts and combine them.

had to try the peanut butter. I didn't really need peanut butter right now but I

just wanted to play. Awesome. It isn't totally smooth but mostly. I didn't want

to blow the machine up. lol. And clean up wasn't too bad.

Another newbie question.

I have one of the new QVC machines.... It has the 48oz, wider bottom container. I plan to make PB ASAP.

Are you guys using your wet or dry containers for peanut butter?

Hello Sally,Wet containers are used to make nut butter. Here is more information on the topic of containers:Links > 2 - Container Questions/links/2___Container_Questions_001327025225/The 48 oz. container that comes with the Creations Elite is the same bottom width (and blade width) as all of the current 5200 series models are using. The Pro 300 http://www.surlatable.com/product/PRO-958660/Vitamix-Red-Pro-300-Series-Blender and the Pro 750 are the only machines that currently have the newer, wider base.Hope this is helpful!

I wanted to give an update to the peanut butter I made last night- after it

cooled, hubby thought it was delicious, he just didn't like it warm. :)
