Guest guest
When was in first grade (age 6), she would often get into this type of problem... usually when someone got too close (ie in her " space " ). She was very strong and could easily topple over another child. The answer was to require her to apologize, and if she didn't, take away a privilege. For example, one day she pushed another girl named " " when got too close to her on the slide. refused to apologize (clearly she didn't think she was in the wrong!). I tolder her that she was going to lose her visit to the park (a favorite activity) that afternoon if she didn't apologize. She still refused and she missed going to the park. The next day on the way to school she kept saying to herself " say sorry to g, say sorry to . " The problem went away not long after. - Becky In a message dated 4/19/2006 2:31:56 PM Eastern Standard Time, anndmasch@... writes: I am having some behavior problems with my daughter Amelia (ds, 6) whereby she gets angry or frustrated with her younger brother Jake (4) and hits him. Sometimes it won't be even a situation where she is angry with her brother but at someone else and she will walk over and hit him or push him. We do not use corporal punishment. On Sunday she pushed him so hard off the toilet-where he was standing on the lid-that I really was concerned that she had injured him. Any advice on how to help her change this behavior?
