Guest guest
Uh huh...what did we tell you? I made tortilla soup today, too, also with half a jalapeño. However, a brighter and more interesting touch is about 1/4 Scotch bonnet--different heat and one I prefer to the jalapeño. I put my chips in the cup rather than in the container--no sense in having them get soggy in there. Also, 1/4 cup or so of frozen corn added at the end is wonderful and you don't even have to thaw it. First time with the new Vitamix. First recipe tonite: Tortilla Soup (original, right?) I used the recipe @ Vita-Recipes with the addidion of half a jalapeno... It was absolutely amazing! Maybe this machine will make it past the first 30 days.. :-) -

Guest guest
One thing that we found is that the flavors were *very* bright and " punchy " -- unexpectedly so. In this particular recipe that was a good thing - I had purchased some limes so that we could add lime juice at the table to brighten the flavor if necessary -- they went unused (Margarita time!!!) I can see that if " raw food cooking " has this overall brightness that some pre-roasting is going to be in order at times. My *VERY* picky daughter (who seems to have 3 things that she will eat if the phase of moon is right) wolfed down her portion before the rest of us were able to sit down. I'm going to try this again using some of the additions that Lea Ann has on her site. Tonite, however, is going to be cream of asparagus soup.. :-) - Dow, D.C. > > First recipe tonite: Tortilla Soup (original, right?) > > I used the recipe @ Vita-Recipes with the addidion of half a jalapeno... Guest guest
Whoops! First time I read this I thought it said 1/4 SCOTCH! Might be a new twist on tortilla soup! Guest guest
One should always marinate the chef thoroughly before cooking. - Dow, D.C. > > > > Uh huh...what did we tell you? > > I made tortilla soup today, too, also with half a jalapeño. Guest guest
Cream of Asparagus - YUM! (one of my favorites) But I bet yours is more complex than mine - steamed Asparagus and 1/2 of a veggie bullion cube - blend ;-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< Re: First time with the new Vitamix.
