Guest guest
This is a good question Barbara. The lid to the smaller containers (both the 32 oz and the 48 oz are the same) have smaller holes. There is a graduated spot in the middle of your larger tamper that stops the tamper at the right spot for the smaller containers. So the large tamper works for all containers.HOWEVER, the only times (twice!) that I've chewed up my tamper was when I was REALLY pounding on the tamper while using the smaller container and it pushed through. I recommend that you purchase ($10 extra) the short tamper that Vitamix sells: https://secure.vitamix.com/acb/stores/4/Mini-Tamper---For-32oz-and-48-oz-household-containers-only-P998C3.aspx Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< On Jan 25, 2011, at 5:07 PM, Barbara Watt wrote: You really answered a lot of questions for me. I'm going to post it here to answer questions in advance (and I'll post it in the files too). If anyone sees wording that seems confusing - or if there are questions that you don't think I answered in advance - please feel free to let me know! :-) Vitamix 5200 Purchase Options* (shipping is Always FREE) Retail New** $449 (red, black, or white) $499 (brushed stainless) Wholesale New *** $395 (black or white only) Refurbished**** $379 (red, black, or white) $449 (brushed stainless) Extra Containers****** (Are always $99 with Free Shipping) 64 oz. Wet 48 oz. Wet 32 oz. Wet 32 oz. Dry (the dry container is ONLY for grinding coffee and grinding grains into flours) (peanut butter is made in the wet containers) (the 32 oz. and the 48 oz. Containers fit under cabinets) *The 5200 is our premier model for home use. It comes with a full 7-year warranty. The “Vitamix Creations” that is sold on QVC has only a 5-year warranty and no soft grip handle or soft touch controls. People often ask about the 5200 vs. a commercial unit. Commercial units only come with a one year warranty and for this reason, Vitamix employees and demonstrators choose the 5200. It is possible to get a commercial unit that has a 3HP motor, but keep in mind that extra HP goes towards running the fan (the assumption being that the machine is running all day long in a commercial setting and needs the fan to keep the motor cool) and does not increase the performance of the machine. The 5200 comes with the 64 oz wet container, the Whole Foods easel back Cookbook (costs $50 on the Vitamix website) a cooking class quality DVD, and a Getting Started Guide. I can only get you the 5200 packaged with a 48 oz. container at Retail. To purchase a machine at retail send me: 1) what you want to order, 2) the address you want the machine shipped to, 3) an email address for shipping confirmation, and 4) a phone number and a best time to call. My contact at Vitamix will call you to confirm the order and take your credit card information. Vitamix has a 3-payment plan: half, plus a $15 service fee the first payment, then the other half is divided into two additional monthly payments. **Retail New is the best option for people who will not consider a refurbished machine under any circumstances, are in a hurry, or must use their credit card. It comes with the 64 oz. container standard. Retail is the only option if you want a machine packaged with the 48 oz. container (see info. on containers below). ***Wholesale New is difficult and more complicated, but possible. It is an option for people who will not consider a refurbished machine, but really want to save money and are: 1) willing and able to be very patient to wait for their machine, and 2) can send a money order OR use Pay Pal and pay the fee that Pay Pal charges me to accept that payment. I only do one show a month and not all of them are wholesale shows. If I am doing a wholesale show in the near future (you can check my schedule on my www.VitamixLady.com website) I can purchase a machine for you on my credit card and have it shipped to you (Free Shipping) if I've been paid in advance. The machine arrives 1-2 weeks after the show ends. To calculate your final cost add up the prices listed above for whatever you have chosen to purchase, then add tax based on the zip code of the delivery address. You can find out the tax rate here: http://zip2tax.com/ I can do this for you if you send me your zip code. If you'd like to pay with Money Order you can send it to: Lea Ann Savage 316 Jupiter Drive Satellite Beach, FL 32937 321-773-7088 (home) 321-961-9219 (cell) If you'd like to pay with Pay Pal after calculating the tax rate enter the final amount in the box that says, “I want to have this amount left after Pay Pal's fees”, at this website http://thefeecalculator.com/ then send that amount to me via Pay Pal at lsavage@... Again, I can calculate this for you if you'd like. ****Refurbished is the only way I would purchase a Vitamix (unless I could get one AT a Wholesale Road Show) because I feel it is the best value. I bought my mom a refurbished machine, my first machine was refurbished (I only have a new one because I won it at a sales meeting :-) and I've sold many refurbished machines to people who tell me they can't tell a refurbished machine from a new one when they open the box. It comes with the SAME 7-year warranty as a new machine. It has been inspected at the factory Twice – once when first off the line, then again before being re-packaged to sell as a refurb. The container, the Whole Foods easel back Cookbook (costs $50 on the Vitamix website) the cooking class quality DVD, and the Getting Started Guide are all brand new. To purchase a refurbished machine, send me: 1) what you want to order, 2) the address you want the machine shipped to, 3) an email address for shipping confirmation, and 4) a phone number and a best time to call. My contact at Vitamix will call you to confirm the order and take your credit card information. You can use Vitamix's 3-payment plan on refurbished machines - half, plus a $15 service fee the first payment, then the other half is divided into two additional monthly payments. ******Extra Containers Wet containers do Everything except grind coffee and turn grains into flours. The 64 oz. has the most capacity and is standard with the 5200. You can do small amounts in this container. (as small as ½ cup) all of the way up to 8 cups. At my house it does not matter that this container can't fit under the cabinet because it is ALWAYS drying upside down on a towel either on the counter beside my base unit, or in a cabinet below. The 48 oz. is best for people who cannot afford an extra wet container and insist on having a container that fits under the cabinet . The 48 oz isn't as “handy” to use and clean as the 32 oz., nor does it have the capacity of the 64 oz. I can only order machines that come packaged with the 48 oz. container via retail. The 32. oz. is GREAT for people who can afford an extra container. It fits under the cabinet. I use mine 90% of the time because it is so handy to clean and even though I have a large family, most recipes can be made in my small container. A final note: I can order any package specials you find on the www.Vitamix.com website (not commercial units). You would get Free Shipping, and my undying gratitude :-) Blessings, Lea Ann Savage Satellite Beach, FL (321) 773-7088 (home) (321-961-9219 (cell) www.VitamixLady.com www..com <))><

Guest guest
Hello ,If you call Customer Service (the number is on the back of your machine) you "might" catch a rep in a good mood and get one for free (sometimes they replace one at no charge). If they are going to charge, it is only $12.50.Or you could order from here:https://secure.vitamix.com/Tamper.aspx Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<))>< On May 28, 2012, at 3:16 PM, Navarro wrote: Okay, without going in to all the dumb details, I just have one question, what is the cheapest, fastest way to go about getting a new tamper for my 5200?
