Guest guest
HI, haven't posted in a while, but still reading. a quick update. Tim is going into hospital today for his A.C.E. (antegrade colonic enema)procedure tomorrow. He is a bit miffed at the moment becoz yesterday he had to have a light diet and today it's fluids only so he's hungry and grumpy! I am confident that the rest of today will spent in the toilet cleaning smelly nappies after he has been given his bowel prep medication!! Ah what a fun day we are going to have! If all goes according to plan he should be home on friday or saturday and then hopefully he will be able to live a nappy free life. (For any new parents soiling at tim's age is not a DS related problem but an additional medical problem that he has). He is also have 8 or 10 teeth removed at the same time (can't remember what the dentist said!), mostly stubborn baby teeth but also a couple of rogue adult teeth growing in the roof of his mouth- hopefully the removal of these teeth should mean he doesn't need major (if any) orthodontic treatment in the future. All his adult teeth are in place and ready to grow once the babies have been removed. And in september he is to see the growth specialist to see if there is anything he can do to increase tim's potential adult height. His predicted 4'8 " is in jeopady becoz he has begun his puberty growth spurt (great for his self esteem) and has for the first time in his life come off the 5th centile and reached the dizzy heights of the 10th- but potentially he could now stop growing a whole lot sooner (his brother had his growth spurt early too and then hasn't grown so much as a 1/4 inch since he was 13 and is now shorter than his peers- but a good sight taller than 4'8 " !!!) and 4'8 " is the prediction IF tim keeps growing until he's 18 years old. So hopefully the paed will be able to delay the onset of full blown puberty for a few years to give his growing a chance. I do hope so, 4'8 " is tiny, anything less will be dwarfism- not sure his self esteem will like that too much!! Anyway, the witching hour is upon us and we should make tracks for the hospital. sue wong
