Helichrysum italicum is famous for its effectiveness in treating old and new skin injuries, as well as bruises, burns, and many types of skin irritation. Used in massage oils, it has also been associated with treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and pain reduction. Lawless (Illustrated Encyclopedia of Essential Oils) states that Helichrysum essential oil is strongly anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic, astringent, and fungicidal.
