and welcome to Oregon. We all bring something to the listserve, and we

all take something away from it, in better humor or more informed,

because of it or in spite of it. I believe this electronic

campfire/watering hole has great potential for increasing our

understanding of our colleagues and those matters we all must confront.

I've never seen anything quite like the past few days here myself, at

least to this degree. I for one hope you can help our tiny community

find ways to deal with issues we all face. I'd love to hear more of

your family's DCs from an earlier era. Some of my best information

gleaned in my own educational process was serving WSCC Library Living

History project, interviewing Pioneer DCs about their experiences. One

of my pioneers was a 1926 graduate of LACC, who provided an incredible

narrative of the times they faced in the 1940s and 50s in California.

So I don't know what your experience here will be. For the most part,

it has been worth my time and effort.
