It is a delicious plant is it not?? If it is growing as a weed as you said I wouldn't mind taking some from you. I do believe that i did try drying some. Don't think it retained any of its yumminess when I did. Much better fresh. Try it in some iced tea or fruit salad. YUM Quote
Guest guest Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 Koalas, It is delicious to smell. I haven't tried it in tea or food as yet. It's not a weed---just growing rapidly like a weed. I got it at the nursery when I purchased my annuals because it has bright red flowers in the fall that attract hummingbirds. All my other hummingbird flowers are gone by then. I did read that it is very easy to propogate, so I'll break off some shoots and if they've rooted by gathering, I'll bring some along. I think I'll just experiment with infusing the leaves in oo, or maybe a lighter oil that I can use for lotion; I agree, the fragrance probably wouldn't be retained in soap. It doesn't seem to have any skin nourishing properties, so, if the fragrance doesn't hold up in lotion, I have a sample of pineapple cilantro fo I can add. If it comes out nice, I'll add samples to my swap item. > Ooo i havn't used it in soap, but i did have it in the yard 2 years > ago. Bought it at the garden store. I wish I had! Beth Quote
