Guest guest
Kim, Thank you for the advice. Driving is the one thing that concerns me. I see people that have lived here all their lives spinning on the ice LOL. Maybe I need a bumper car for my first winter here! I love it here. I like cold weather too...hated the heat in AZ. What I really love about NY is the change in seasons and the colors...so green then so brilliant then so white!!! LOL I am going to be so happy here. The people are great! I don't have any family here, but my husband was born and raised here and I have a lot of in-laws here. Guest guest
Deanna, If you get along with your in-laws the way I get along with mine, it's almost as good as having family nearby. Welcome to NY, and the best of luck to you! I second the driving advice. Practice in an empty parking lot so you get the feel of the snow/ice. Find out what kind of brakes you have, and how they should be used (some you pump and some pump for you - you just press hard!). Guest guest
I read the article last year on recordonline.com about how to use brakes in the snow/ice. It also recommended an empty parking lot to practice. I am definitely going to do just that. I am nervous to say the least. I have anti-lock brakes on my truck, so that does help. I don't have to feather them...they will do that for me. Thank you for the welcome! Yes, my in-laws are all wonderful! I get along really well with 98% of them (LOL). On a side note, I am going to be selling stuff when we go to NC for Thanksgiving. My father-in-law says the flea market there is a great place to sell (we'll see). I figure it being the day after Thanksgiving and Saturday too it may go pretty well. I will let you all know when I get back.
