Guest guest
After 22 years in Syracuse, Beth, I love Poughkeepsie! It is still above freezing here and we rarely see snow before December. When DH and I moved here, our youngest was still in high school. One AM, DS came home from school laughing that school was closed because there was a prediction of 4-6 inches of snow during the morning hours! What we lack for in snow (yes, we do get some snow storms of 12 inches once in a while) we get ice. The roads can be treacherous with black ice. With all the hills, driving can be a challenge sometimes. So I guess there are some trade offs. But best of all, we have lots of sunshine and our growing season is longer. Frost hasn't gotten my tomato plants and my lavender is still very happy! Guest guest
Beth, Yes! Here in Cohoes, NY we *did* get some snow yesterday. [Cohoes is just outside of Albany.] It was so weird ~ I happened to look out my window and the sun was shining, but tiny flurries were also falling! Then, it got thicker and thicker. It was swirling around like crazy. The snow only lasted for maybe 10 minutes, but still, it was the first snow that I've seen in our area [even though I know that the higher elevations up north had been getting snow for a few weeks now]. It's too early!!!!! nne http://bathtubjunkie.star-shaped.org/ -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ . Guest guest
Well, Anyone that knows me knows that this is one topic that gets me to come on out!!!! I love the snow, cold, winter....the whole shebang! So, when we came home last night, and the snow looked REALLY heavy in the headlights, I felt that same pang of excitement I felt as a child at the first snowfall! Don't know WHY, but as the mercury drops and everyone begins speculating about the coming season, I begin to feel very much alive! Very strange, I know. But, on the flip side, during the summer when everyone else is enjoying the heat, I am totally miserable...headaches, stiff-feeling, swollen and just, ... well, miserable. I DO enjoy morning, before the heat sets in, though! I must tell you, though....I REALLY don't mind the snow much at all since we got the Explorer a couple of years ago. We previously had a rear wheel drive Volvo. We came home a couple of times at night, and the road was not plowed....they generally don't do our road after about 5 in the evening...I had to walk up the hill in darkness, grab the ATV, and plow the road up to our house...hehehehehe...AND, I didn't even mind it, but it sure is nice to have the 4wd...especially on our hill!!!! I shall return to my corner...I know I am totally weird...but, as I always say, God made me that way!!!!! hehehehehe Take heart...the weather for tomorrow is supposed to be about 50! Least it is above freezing!!!! We still do not have our firewood outta the woods, so we have a bit of work ahead. We are still dealing with much of my FIL's stuff....the garage is STUFFED! Makes me think I will start clearing out my " junque " NOW!!!! hahahahah! Have a good night, all!!!!
