Guest guest
I agree exactly that is a personal preferance and we all have ways that work for us. Katy basicaly I spoke up because I dint want you to think that because you gelled that is was a bad thing. I get a little bit nervouse when a batch of soap starts loosing heat because thats when I've had trouble, so I be sure and wrap it up all cozy or jumpstart it in the oven. I've heard of soapers even makeing the soap then putting it in the refrige. Yikes, but I suppose if it works for them, thats great. They still get soap. Colleen, this is just my opinion so take it for what its worth, If you loose any properties at all from HP, I doubt it would be significant differnce in the end result. Meaning im sure they clean just as well as CP. Again, its a personal preference. The whole issue has pros and cons all over the place. Guest guest
Oh sorry I got sidetracked on what you really wanted to know. LOL I had never heard of that statement before. Sounded like she was trying to play up her own product which is what we do I guess. She is going for the customer that dosnt know better. Shaye Re:Katy on non gelling > Colleen, this is just my opinion so take it for what its worth, If you loose any properties at all from HP, I doubt it would be significant differnce in the end result. And I think your opinion, Shaye, is worth alot! That's why you were so blessed as to be bombarded with all my cp questions before. Don't you feel lucky? I personally wasn't concerned about losing properties between cp and hp. I was just curious as to the truth of the statement. I saw it on an ebay auction & wondered about it. It struck me as a statement made by someone who prefered one method over another (kind-of like " from scratch " vs. melt & pour), but I wanted to check with all of you to see if there was any truth behind it. It's been kind-of quiet around here so I'm glad to see that we can all come together and have a meaningful " soaping " discussion. It helps everyone from newbie to expert to share their knowledge! So thanks to everyone who gave their wisdom & opinions. I learn sooo much from all of you talented people! Guest guest
Wow, Bekka, you're lucky! The only time I could keep my soap from gelling (because I wanted to see if it made a difference in my final product) was when I made a goat milk soap using frozen milk and was able to keep my temps real low. I've kept temps low when mixing for finicky FO's but never thought that the FO might also have a problem during gel. Something to think about. Thanks! Katy Katy, in my case, ungelled soaps just happens for me. It comes about naturally, unless the FO is a finicky one (then I do a little more work to prevent gel from happening). Guest guest
Oh, thanks Shaye. I agree that it's personal preference but now I'm intrigued and might have to try it again (keeping it from gelling) and see what happens. I do the same thing as you. I wrap it up good, especially around the edges of the log mold to make sure it gels all the way out. Katy I agree exactly that is a personal preferance and we all have ways that work for us.
