You may email me personally with the place or if of interest to everyone in NY, give a general idea of what kind of store sells this product. TIA L. Clugstone , I have been soaping for awhile now. When I first started soaping you could still buy everclear here in Pa. It has since been outlawed here but I was told it was available in New York State at one time. Whether it is or not, I'm not positive. I would check a package store..is that what they are called there???...The type of place where you can buy whiskey. Everclear is also known as PURE GRAIN ALCOHOL. In Pennsylvania it was sold as PURE GRAIN ALCOHOL....and not EVERCLEAR...I think that might be a southern term for it. In other words...about the same as....MOONSHINE...I AM SAYING ABOUT>>>> THE SAME.....Real confusing stuff. BUT....DO NOT USE MOONSHINE!!!!! You can never be sure of the alcohol content!!!!!!!!! EVER...CLEAR AS MUD....RIGHT????? LOL!!!!! Good Luck in your search & Happy soaping!!!!! Debbie Z. in Pa.
Guest guest
, You're wrong about Florida. We can get 153 proof Everclear, just not the 190+ version. The good stuff CAN be purchased in Georgia. I take a trip there whenever I run short. Blessings to all, barkingcrow wrote: > No- Everclear can not be purchased in any liquor store. Just did a quick search and found some sites that sell it on-line.....but they can't ship to California. Must not be legal here. I know they carry it in Texas. I've had great luck using it for room sprays cuz it's odorless and dissolves the eo's. Right now I'd like to make some herbal tinctures with it, something I've never done. Guest guest
Hi Christy: Do you live anywhere near the border to Mexico? When I lived in San Diego, I had to go to Tijuana to get grain alcohol, but the nice thing was it was cheap down there! ;-) For herb tinctures, vodka will work fine, just use dried herbs and enough vodka to cover them and steep 1-2 weeks in a closed container....strain and repeat using fresh dried herbs if desired. The trick to using vodka when mixing essential oils is use the strongest you can find (100 proof is only 50% alcohol, the rest is water), and adding the e.o.'s drop by drop, mixing thoroughly in between. Don't add any water to this, like I said, its already at least half water, and adding more is asking for trouble... There might be some separation, even after all that...if so, pack a paper coffee filter with unscented talc or magnesia and slowly pour the liquid into it, letting it drip into another container (dont wring out the filter). Let the liquid settle, and decant off the clear portion. > Yeah, I've been trying to find some here in California, also, with no luck. > Just did a quick search and found some sites that sell it on-line.....but > they can't ship to California. I'm in " North County " , so, yeah, not that far from the border. I'd not even thought of that, what a great idea. My thought was to have my folks pick up some next time they go to Vegas. I'm very jazzed about the tinctures. Will I be ok on preservation as long as the herbs are completely dried?? Guest guest
One reason some places may not sell it is because young ones have been known to mix it with jello-call it jello shots, due to the very high alcohol level in Everclear-this has resulted in several deaths due to alcohol poisioning. They don't realize how much they are consuming and/or doing a lot of (sometimes underaged) drinking due to peer pressure! Hugs,

Guest guest
> Just did a quick search and found some sites that sell it on-line.....but > they can't ship to California. Must not be legal here. Hi Christy; I also live in California and we cannot buy any alcohol for consumption any stronger than 100 proof. Which is Seagram's brand Vodka. But I get my grain alcohol from a chemical company that is located in Burbank, CA. They ship it by mail. In fact I got an order in from them a few weeks ago. They sell everything that you need to make any kinds of toiletries and most everything else also. Their web site is: www.tri-esssciences.com Hope this helps you; Blessings; Raven
