Guest guest
I was back east this past week, but didn't manage to see Jan. I was going over and taker out to dinner on Thursday night, but when I called, she told me that she couldn't do it because she had a date. ;-) It turned out that she was going out to dinner with (a graduate of Chapel Haven) who lives in the same apartment building as Jan ... and his parents. Her Mom reports that she's finally gotten checked out for the exercise room across the street at Chapel Haven. In a walk the two of them went on together, Jan was really stepping out. My query about her weight .. well it was 114. I expressed my words of caution, but she said that it was better than last week when it hit 118. The good news is that Jan is paying attention and taking corrective action to keep her weight under control. On the medical front, nothing is happening, except that Jan's expensive meds have been eliminated. Now she has to pay for all her meds because she won't make her " spend-down " in six months. That is good! So far so good .. the leukemia is gone .. at least for now. While home, I pulled together a bunch of evaluations to turn in to the CA regional center to get her " intake " into the CA system started. We are talking about sometime in July for a potential move date. At least initially, I will have her living with me, perhaps in the loft of our new barn (which is more civilized than the house). That should give her a little space of her own until she gets signed in to CA services and we find a suitable apartment for her.
