Jeanne,

She is going to have to consult with Dr. Goldberg. Ordering the labwork is

not an issue. I think the list is still on the website but interpreting it

and then deciding what drugs to start out with and then what to add and

change as the child progresses is tricky and requires training. The board is

putting together a training program for Health Care Providers. If your

pediatrician is really interested then she needs to read the hypothesis,

other related articles and then contact Dr. Goldberg. The protocol is child

specific. Kathy Coalition-Northern New York

Jeanne,

I did a favor for a friend and went with her to her doctor's appointment

where she was going to ask him to do Goldberg's bloodwork. I was already

doing and had seen some really good improvement with my daughter. This

pediatrician was half-listening to me about my daughter's progress, but not

really. I started to ask him questions. " Do you know if this child's

thyroid works properly? Do you know if this child has high viral titers?

Have you ever tested his iron? Have you ever looked at possible deficiency

of blood flow to the brain? He really didn't have a lot of answers for me

and was on the defensive about lack of published material. I told him that

at this point EVERYTHING in autism was alternative if you did not have a

double-blind trial done and did he really know how many of those had been

published. He didn't. I then told him that " if you don't know WHAT causes

autism, you can't tell me what DOESN'T cause it. " He signed off for the

paperwork. He probably also wanted to get me out of his office. I wasn't

insulting or aggressive, but I did not let him off the hook. He then

charged my friend whom he knew had no insurance $80.00 for this " consult. "

Do your homework! Get all your facts straight. Doctors don't have a lot of

time to read all the Goldberg stuff and most of them won't really believe

it. They want to know about his success rate, they want to know about

" published " material. You have to convince them that this is a " scientific "

way to look at autism. Tell them what Dr. G says " The CDC says there is an

" epidemic " of autism. It is impossible to have an " epidemic " of a genetic

or developmental disorder. It is scientifically impossible. There MUST be

a disease process present. Let's look for that disease process and address

it. " That makes sense to doctors because it refers to the science.

Good luck,

Ginger

Kathy,

What I did (and five of my friends also did) was to GET the bloodwork

ordered through our regular pediatricians so that it was covered by

insurance (or at least partial coverage). THEN we went to Goldberg. We

then kept our pediatricians informed as to what was going on along the way.

My pediatrician NOW wants to do Goldberg's protocol with another patient of

his. He was talking about the Valtrex and the Diflucan and I reminded him

about the diet and how often we check in with Dr. G. I am guessing that he

is going to do this on his own with this patient, but I could be wrong. You

and I know how child specific this protocol is and Dr. G's experience of

going through all the changes with the meds and behavioral issues involved

is priceless. Unfortunately, a lot of people DON'T have the insurance

coverage or money to even fly out to see him, much less pay for monthly

telephone consults, etc. My hope is that we can fully convert this doctor

into working with Dr. G and doing a lot more kids in this area. That may be

open, I don't know. He has his hands full with a huge practice right now.

We will see. Whatever training the board puts together, I am very

interested in and would love to pass along to my pediatrician. Please let

me know where to get this info.

Thank you.

Ginger

All of them ours found useful. We even ordered a copy of the Virus Within

for ours as a Christmas gift!!

The big reward for your new doctor will be seeing positive changes in your

child as you get into the program!

We wish you luck

Okay, I think I have found a pediatrician I can work with. She seems

open and respectful. However, she said that I probably know more

about all this than she does! I know, not the most comforting. But

my goal is to have her order the bloodwork necessary for the Goldberg

protocol and support me throughout the process - even if I achieve

half of this, I'll be happy. My question: For those of you who have

had to persuade your pediatricians, which articles, both from

Goldberg's site and from any medical journals have you used? I think

we're starting from zero here, in terms of her overall experience

with looking at this from a perspective. Any help would be

greatly appreciated. I'm meeting with her next week, but she sounded

refreshingly open over the phone. We shall see....

I am also in the Detroit metro area. Could you share

talking of?

Hi Suzanne,

I have not seen Dr. Goldberg yet. I was wondering how

the whole process works. Does he give you a protocol

and it is up to you to convince your pediatrician to

follow it? Will Dr. G. actually write scripts for you

if needed? Do you have communication with him through

email or phone? I'm sorry I have so many questions. I

just want to know what to expect. Thank you. Kathy

Hi Kathy

We just met Dr G in Jan of this year. I perused his website

(neuroimmunedr.com) for quite sometime before I made the appointment. He

has a list of tests (blood tests) that he wants completed and sent to him

prior to your first appointment. (The list of tests can be found on his

website also.) I asked our pediatrician (locally) to request these tests

based on the information I sent her (from Dr G). When I made the

appointment with Dr G; the office personnel sent me a packet of

questionnaires and requests for copies of all medical records. All of this

takes about 3 months to complete; about the time it takes to get an

appointment. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

May God bless;

Suzanne
