Hi Shaye

I don't know if you're on any other soap email groups where they

argue about M & P or not, but I am. There is always a lot of controversy

around the subject of M & P soaps having to be labeled with all the

ingredients because it's considered a cosmetic and NOT real soap.

As you know all I use is SFIC's so I decided to email the company and

ask

them and below is Jen's response. I was pretty sure what she was going

to say but at least now I know for sure.....their M & P is true soap and

does not require ingredients labeling by us. I know a lot of other M & P

soaps are NOT the same as SFIC's so I don't know how those people

handle it. Anyway, I just thought I'd pass this on to you in case you

ever need the info. By the way, I did order directly from SFIC a few

months ago and had it shipped to one of the stores here in town that

carries my products. It worked out great and is saving me a ton of

money.

Re: question regarding Soap Bases

Hello ,

Our soap is considered a real true soap. (made the old fashioned way

with vegetable oils and lye) We do not have any

detergents/surfactants/sulfates (except for the extra clear which has a

small amount of surfactant for clarity.)

We have had these ingredients until just recently on our grocery store

soap:

Saponified Vegetable Oils (mainly coconut)

Glycerine (kosher, of vegetable origin)

Purified Water

Moisturizer

Emulsifier

More info about our soap base:

http://www.sficcorp.com/home1.htm

Now we have no ingredients on our grocery store brand label called

Crystal (found in Albertson's and Fred Meyers):

http://www.sficcorp.com/crystalhome.htm

Here is the ingredient information about our melt and pour soap base:

Thank you for your question about our ingredients. They are very

simple! Here is the clear and white soap base ingredients. The only

difference is that to make sure to take out the addition of a whitener

in clear soaps! Here are the other changes with the different bases:

* Low Sweat Clear and Low Sweat White, are the same listing only

lower in glycerine (does not change the list)

* Olive oil and Castile are the same listing, just put Olive Oil

at the top of the list.

* Hemp seed oil top oil is olive oil and then add hemp seed oil to

the list

* Goat's milk, oatmeal, shea butter, honey and aloe vera, just add

them to the list!

* Shaving soap, just has that addition of wheat protein.

All of our soap bases come off of the same 'main' ingredient listing:

Glycerine Soap Ingredient Listing

Coconut Oil

Palm Oil

Castor Oil

Safflower Oil

Glycerine (kosher, of vegetable origin)

Purified Water

Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent)

Sorbitol (from berries, moisturizer)

Sorbitan oleate (emulsifier)

Soybean protein (conditioner)

Titanium Dioxide (mineral whitener used in opaque soaps)

Also many of our private label customers also choose not to put

ingredients on their labels in order to create a more appealing

packaging/label.

I hope this is helpful. Please give me a call if you have any other

questions!

question regarding Soap Bases

Hi Jen

I only use SFIC's soap bases which I bought directly from you a few

months ago. I have a question I hope you or someone at your company

can answer. I am on a lot of " soap and toiletries " chat groups on the

internet and one controversy always seems to keep coming up. It's in

regards to the FDA's labeling requirements for soaps. I used to always

label all my soaps with the list of ingredients that you supplied me

with at

one time. But I do a lot of small 1-1/2 to 2 oz bars that sell well and

there's just no room on a bar of soap that size to list all the

ingredients,

my company name & address, the weight & fragrance, etc. So I have

just been labeling them as " glycerin soap " or " goatsmilk soap " . If I add

any additional oil (like jojoba) I put " glycerin soap with jojoba oil " .

Now I'm getting concerned because a lot of people on the internet that

make their soap from scratch are saying that ALL melt & pour soaps are

NOT true soaps and by law have to have all the ingredients labeled on

each bar. So I thought I'd try to get the correct info right from the

horse's mouth. I've even seen people write on these chat lists that

SFIC's

soap base IS considered true soap so it does NOT have to be labeled

with all the ingredients and then someone else contradicts them and

says the opposite. I'm sorry this note is so long but this whole

dilemma has me frazzled. I need to know once and for all who is correct

in this debate. Can you help? By the way, I see a lot of people in

these

chat groups (besides me) that post nothing but GREAT things about

your company's soap. I will never use any other kind!!

Thanks for any info you can obtain for me.
