tubes on the 2nd

Hi everyone,

will be going under to remove the tubes that have been in place for

three years, clean up the ear canals, and most likely put new tubes in on

December 2nd. He's had awful drainage for the last month in his right ear,

luckily that tube is still doing it's job. The left ear is clear but the tube

is in the canal. The drainage has cleared up finally thanks to floxin.

I'm worried as surgery is surgery no matter what. He's going under with just a

mask unlike last time where he was intebated, IV, and the works for the T and A

and tubes surgery. This ENT is new to us, seems like he knows his stuff but I'm

still nervous.

I'm going to call our primary doc and ask for an order for bloodwork while he's

out. What should I have done? TSH, T4??? If I could only get in there to cut

his hair and fingernails and toenails while he's out - seriously!

The doc says he will come home the same day. Says because he's not being

intebated that there's no need to spend the night.

Anyone have a child that had tubes stay in this long? I'm worried about a hole

in the eardrum but the doc says that even if he does have one, it will be okay -

work to his advantage as he'll most likely always need tubes. again, any

experience on this one?

Any comments....

Thanks,

Jayne
