also gets very frustrated when learning new material. I think the

best option is to use the computer as a learning tool. There are many

software programs that are fun and educational. also seems to " get

it " without showing it.

We gave up on math for now. His IEP includes the use of a calculator -

heck, I can't add and subtract without one-why should I expect him to?

Hubby on the other hand, can estimate what the total grocery bill will come

to within a $1.00 and excels in math (99th %) but absolutely HATES

math and loves language - go figure!

My Micah learns in exactly the same way. Though only 4 years old I have

noticed a consistent pattern. I call it plateau and peak. We go along, along,

along seemingly learning nothing and than WHAM he has the whole thing down. It

is really strange. I get no encouragement for my efforts because I see no

growth until he has everything pretty much figured out. Now though I understand

this pattern and just keep chug chug chugging along lol.
