Guest guest
Di, You can get the addresses from the directory and if parents are in it, they have agreed to be notified. Also, contact your PTA pres directly and perhaps suggest to have/be a special needs liasion. Finally after many years of trying to get a list of special needs students at amanda's elementary school, we formed a special needs parent group with the help of the spec ed supervisor, the prinipal, the therapists and all the addresses were shared and exchanged there. I have other ways to access info- but cant share that on the list, LOL!
Guest guest
A while back Kathy (the brain abscess lady){hehehe} posted a letter she sent to school which would go home to parents. Well I adapted the letter to fit Nic and sent a copy to the principal to approve. Well the director of Special Ed said I cannot send it out through the school and they cannot give out addresses of the students (confidentiality). She said it was school " policy " that only " certain " types of information be sent out through the school. I emailed her back saying I understood and could I have a copy of the policy. And I also mentioned the school directory that the PTO makes and distributes each year with each child's name address, phone and email address. The parents are asked to sign a consent to be included so why couldn't I just get those ? I haven't heard from them yet. Di
Guest guest
lol I bet you do! This letter was to explain that Nic had DS and how to respond if their child asked them questions at home. I explained to the district that although they plan to have the guidance counselor speak to the class about Nic, some kids may be afraid or too shy to ask questions. Then they may go home and ask and the parent won't know what they are talking about. I still haven't gotten a response yet. Guest guest
Di, this happened to me years ago with a letter I wanted sent out for . I paid the postage myself, looked up the addresses myself, and mailed them out myself. I mailed out over 50 letters. It was alot of work, but well worth it in the end.
