Guest guest
>>All these contradictory studies on fats makesone wonder if the Ornish, Pritikin, et alfolk have it right when they just try to limitthem altogether to 10% of calories. Dean Ornish recommends 2-4 grams of fish oil a day for his patients. The Pritikin Program includes a serving of Omega 3 rich fish 3-4x/wk and is around 15% fat "on average". Guest guest
>>I supplement with flax oil or flax seed meal(depends on my mood and breakfast that day). If contradictory studies and "evidence" are your concern,... where is the studies and evidence supporting the above? there is evidence that too much ALA may increase risk of some cancers. I dont know of any studies supporting the use of Flax Seed Oil Jeff __________________________________________________
Guest guest
>>Well, I'm a vegetarian, so I consume flax oil in lieu of fish oilto obtain my omega-3's. Just my opinion, but i still wouldnt recommend flax seed oil. Omegas 3s are not difficult to obtain on a whole food diet. And, there are better plant based concentrated sources to choose from such as flax seeds and walnuts. Flax seed oil is a highly unstable, easily oxidized oil >>But, yes, the contradictory studies are,of course, a concern. I dont think there are as many contradictions in reality as there are in the way the media may present info to us. And, any seeming contradictions are able to be worked out about closer examination and additional study. Guest guest
Stomach cancer can also be attributed to their consumption of lots of raw fish. on 5/21/2006 3:53 PM, Rodney at perspect1111@... wrote: But the japanese have high death rates from stroke and stomach cancer - both the result, my guess, of their very high salt intake.
