Guest guest
I watched the news this morning and it was reported that everyone living east of Rt 17 was mandated to evacuate. That would include Sharon and her family. Cheryl - I didn't realize how bad Isabel effected your family. I dearly love the ocean, but now am thinking that Tim and I should stay in the mountains when he retires. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Hi everyone. Hurricane Charley went over us this morning as a Category 1 storm, winds were not bad. Gusts to around 70-80mph, we had 3.5 inches of rain today. We had 4 inches of rain yesterday. We were without power for about 4 hours, but it is back on now. We had downed limbs in our yard, nothing huge, and actually we have already finished our clean up in the yard, and Mike is out helping neighbors get their clean ups done. There were many trees down in our neighborhood, but no damage to homes that we know of. But one of our neighbors knocked on our door a little while ago with a chain saw injury (nothing major thank goodness). Power remains out in town and McClellanville (both south of us), haven't heard about further north on the Strand toward Surfside Beach and Myrtle Beach. We didn't have to evacuate. The mandatory evacuations were for East of Hwy. 17, we live about a mile west of Hwy. 17. We were very lucky here. Unfortunately Florida was not lucky at all, with major damage, catastrophic proportions, and as many as 15 deaths reported so far. Our thoughts and prayers go out to these families as they begin the painstaking process of rebuilding their lives. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers sent our way. Sharon H.
