Mav is in the 8th grade next year so I figure we need to start now to get something set up by the time he is finished with his high schooling. How would we go about getting that set up? Any suggestions? Guest guest
Our school district is in the process of setting up a program at our local community college. My thinking is that it is more appropriate to have a post-high school program in a college setting, not in a high school seetting. Our school district agrees. If you are interested in getting something started in your area, do some web research on programs in other localities. Then you may want to talk to some other parents about it and approach your school district administration. Jodi
Guest guest
I would also like to approach my community college with this, but I don't know where to begin. I am brainstorming, though. I guess I need to have on hand information about other colleges that offer programs, so any information anyone has out there about their own community colleges and whether they offer courses to the special needs population could be helpful. A couple of you have already sent links, which I have read and copied.....but if there are more, that would be fantastic. Guest guest
One college I KNOW that has this kind of program is Taft College in California. They presented a fantastic workshop a few years back about their program at the NDSC convention.
