Guest guest
I am having a really hard time with it more this year than ever before. Yep I sure do get down . January is more than half over soo thats a plus LOL. Shaye Winter weather I just wanted to share that my weather program on my computer says that it is ONE DEGREE outside right now. I can't believe it. I *soooooo* don't want to go outside! How are you guys dealing with this awful, frigid weather??? I am such a summer girl, and I can't wait until warm weather. I've been drinking a lot of chai, curling up in blankets, taking warm baths, etc. Do you guys get " down " during the winter months? I've heard that taking a vitamin D supplement can help. Just wondered how everyone is doing with these nasty temperatures ... *sigh* ~nne in Albany (who is California dreamin' on such a winter's day ...) Guest guest
I hear ya there. This winter has really been the pits. Since I've been inside so much, I had to start to some remodling work to keep occupied. Just about got the kitchen done. I'm even in the process of signing up for as many of the craft shows as I can, down at the state plaza so I can be out and in the company of a lot people which seems to help. Guest guest
It was -3 (without wind chill) this morning when I ventured out to feed the chickens and the goats. Believe it or not, it felt warmer this am than yesterday since there was no wind. Not balmy, mind you, just not as cold. ;-) At 06:33 AM 1/21/2003 -0700, you wrote: >I hear ya there. Guest guest
Hi nne, I am sorry you have to endure this cold...but...I love it. Yeah, I know I am different, but when the humidity is dripping off the walls in the summer, I am so miserable... I *really* don't llike summer. We got a hot tub sitting on the back deck and that helps take away the winter blahs, to be sure! There is something so wonderful about sitting in warm water while the snow is piling up on top of your head that feels sooooo good! hehehe! Oh, and if you REALLY like warmth, install a woodstove in that new house! When we built this house, the woodstove was put right into the center of the house. NOT exactly the most glamorous " centerpiece " , but we only use the furnace when we are not home. That stove is worth it's weight in gold. To be able to open the doors and not worry about the cold air coming in is GLORIOUS! Wool!!!! I went to TJ Max the other night and found $9 wool sweaters from England in the boys' dept. I bought all three that would fit. NOTHING more warm than a turtleneck with a wool sweater on top. I used to knit all my sweaters, but when the really good sales are on, hey...it isn't worth all the work. Plus, finding really good yarn is becoming more and more challenging. Oh, I also picked up a merino wool (soft, soft, soft!!!) sweater in the ladies' dept for a mere $22. The wool alone for that sweater would have cost well over $50 in the yarn shops. Make some nice plans to build up anticipation~ I am getting myself a wee scottie dog and am about to EXPLODE as I count down the days til I get the laddie! (Colleen...I haven't contacted your mom's friend yet...TIME is soooooooooo short!!!!) Oh, it is ***4*** more days until Saturday!!!!! I cannot WAIT to get the little fellow into my possession. We went and visited him twice and my,oh MY! He and his littermates are precious!!! Go for a walk! This is the big one I miss the most living where I do...I used to love walking at night and looking at houses. So many times, people would have the curtains/drapes open and you can see inside. My imagination went nuts, thinking about the people inside and gosh, I could romanticize and let my imagination go NUTS!!!! After a brisk walk in the cold, it is sooooo fun to curl up with a cup of tea and a blanket... Well, how is this for starters? I LOVE wonter. And, no...this isn't really a " bad " winter. It is much more like the winters when I was a kid!!! Ah, there is another goodie...get on your thermals and warm boots and go sledding!!! It is so much fun and boy, it is wonderful! OK, I will stop for real. Now, when I am complaining next SUMMER...and, boy, do I complain!!! I will be looking for " cool " tips!!! You know, something really special to you. I often get down in the dumps during the winter and that helps me. Lizz
Guest guest
KALE???? Why on earth would there be a run on kale??? Maybe they were already low because they don't stock a lot?? Weird. Good luck finding someone to shovel, Judy! I'll be paying later! He likes being helpful, likes shoveling (why, I I don't know) and especially likes earning money and for something like the kind of shoveling we'll have, I usually offer him some cash. I'd send him to your house if you lived nearby! If we can drive tomorrow I might take him to a friend's house to shovel her walk for her if she needs it (for free, unless she offers him money, I like him to just be plain helpful too). I backed my car into my garage this morning so that I can use my front wheel drive to just drive forward out of the driveway later today when I have to pick up the Girl Scout cookies that just came in (I'm a troop leader, not a cookie mom, I have to pick up my cookies from the cookie mom... and I know those of you without Girl Scouts are just laughing thinking "cookie mom??????"... yeah, the parent who handles the GS cookie orders for the entire troop... they are very brave, it is a lot of work!) I'm just hoping we won't have so much snow by then that if that won't help, so far, we're looking okay for now though. Bridge Walk, Shape It Up + Slim & LimberDate: Tuesday, February 9, 2010, 12:08 AM It's been just spectacular in Portland these past few days and I *had* to do my 3 mile bridge walk at lunch!I'm down5 lbs and am happy about this. 195 - just 60 more lbs to go, ha ha.Tonite Marc and Marina came over and we did Shape It Up for the 2nd time, so this workout is now off the rotation! I should be done with the Slim Series within a couple of weeks. I will have to spend some time planning what comes next. I've been cutting out workouts from bodybuilding mags and may go sans video for awhile with those and kettlebells. We'll see!We ended with Slim & Limber. Not as good as Cool It Off Express, but still a very nice 15 minute stretch!Back and Biceps with Noel tomorrow!
