Guest guest
I want to thank Mike for commenting on the natural human tendency to feel superior. I've just begun moderating the group/emails and have felt concern about the level of disdain for our culture, government, whatever..... There are may things NOT to like about about our culture, marketing, food suppliers, etc. , but this is really preaching to the choir to talk this way and, kind of offensive to someone just checking in since, it's at least somewhat off-target and not about the solution : beginning with individual choice & education of ourselves/those we love. I don't think it's likely for things to change that much in the larger culture though that would be great. If it is to happen it begins with groups like this one. But to simply be one more intellectually " gated community " , not focussed on how to help spread the word/educate/learn then I'm not sure it's productive discussion. You can say: get out of the kitchen if you can't stand the heat " but, I can only say back that if we're superior in our attitude whom do we draw in with that ? I know there's lots of good info in this group's files/online: so I'm discovering. I'd just like to acknowledge that surely the best we can offer is a truly different atttitude about life that this group is about: being a responsible choicemaker; moving away from addiction in all aspect of life [food's a good place to start!!]; becoming a more discriminating person about all the messages our culture gives us: becoming more awake ! I can be a real snotty person, struggle with it all the time; this is a place where I'd like to practice my best capacities to learn, teach and: becoming more awake/alive. too blunt ?.....
